Chi se ne frega!
FC Barcelona - All Time Best XI

FC Barcelona's history has been littered with star and superstar names and choosing the best eleven players from the last 109 years is no easy task, but Goal.com has stepped forward and attempted to do just that.

With 18 league titles, 24 Copa del Rey wins, two European Cup victories, four European Cup Winners' Cup wins and many, many more trophies to boast, picking a selection of names from those triumphs is tough.

Obviously, there will be far more names left out than can be included, but parameters must be set in order to give a reason as to why each player named deserves their place.

Loyalty, ability, achievement and impact are the four main factors that have been used to select this all-time best team from one of the world's most glamorous clubs.

That set of directives means that despite what he went on to achieve elsewhere, Diego Armando Maradona does not make the side.

It has nothing to do with his ability and what impact he had with Napoli and the Argentinian national team, but what he achieved at Barça, as that is where he must have performed to earn a spot in this team.

On the flip side Ronaldo did make it because of the incredible sensation he caused during his one solitary year at the club.

In 49 matches for the Blaugrana the Brazilian made his name in world football by scoring 47 times and going on to be awarded a host of individual prizes, including FIFA World Player of the Year and the Ballon d'Or.

The rest of the side are household names who helped the club achieve unbridled success and stayed longer than the short time that the previously mentioned pair managed.

With so much attacking talent to choose from, Goal.com has gone for a dramatic 3-4-3 formation and has outlined the reasons why each member of the team has ben included.

Antoni Ramallets

Makes it into the team ahead of Andoni Zubizarreta as he won five Zamora Trophies as Spain's best goalkeeper during the 1950's, when success for the Blaugrana was even harder to earn. Ramallets made 538 appearances for the club and helped the Blaugrana win six league titles, the Copa del Generalísimo (Copa del Rey) four times, as well the Inner-Cities Fairs Cup twice.

Migueli

Nicknamed Tarzan, the only player to come close to resembling the powerful central defender from the 1970's is Carles Puyol. Won over the fans with his no nonsense displays at the back and showed his bravery when he played in the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1979 with a broken collar bone. Migueli, whose full name is Miguel Bernardo Bianquetti, is the club's record appearance holder with 664 matches under his belt.

Ronald Koeman

Apart from his unquestionable strength at the back and distribution to the midfield and forward line, Koeman wrote his name into the history of FC Barcelona in some style as he struck the winning goal to earn the club their first ever European Cup triumph in 1992. His wonderful free-kicks were synonymous with his time at Camp Nou and he was a lynchpin in one of the club's most successful eras.

Carles Puyol

There are not many Catalan players in this team, but captain Carles Puyol has rightly earned his place for his leadership qualities, his strength in the air and his power in the tackle. When the team has been flagging the skipper has been there to give a show of support from under his unique haircut. He has risen through the youth ranks and made a place in the back four his own and that is testament to his ability and durability.

Ladislao Kubala

Ask any Barça fan of a certain age who the club's best ever player was and the name of the Hungarian refugee will come out. Ladislao Kubala was voted as the Balugrana's greatest ever player in poll for the club's centenary in 1999 and that was testamant to his achievements at the club. Kubala was the key man in the team of the Cinco Copas (five cups) as he scored 19 goals in 26 games as the club enjoyed one of their most successful ever campaigns in 1951/52.

Michael Laudrup

The incredibly gifted playmaker enjoyed his best years as a player at Camp Nou as he helped the Blaugrana to win four consecutive league titles and the European Cup. Romário has described the Dane as the best player he ever played with as he was able to create and score goals almost at will. His silky running style and incredible ability to pass opponents is still talked about by Spanish football today. Despite his decision to join Real Madrid he is still in.

Johan Cruyff

Cruyff was one of the first world famous superstars to play for the Blaugrana and he lived up to all the hype when he signed from Ajax in 1973. As well as his ability, Cruyff won the hearts of the fans by stating that he had turned down Real Madrid because of the assocation with Franco and later called his son Jordi, despite Catalan names being banned. He helped the club to win the league title for the first time since 1960 and starred in a 5-0 win in the Bernabéu.

Ronaldinho

The Brazilian was known for his potential when he arrived at Barça from PSG, but he transformed himself and the club during a glorious run of form. Ronaldinho has been creditted with being the key figure in the Blaugrana's rise to prominence under Frank Rijkaard and he starred in almost every round as the club won the Champions League in 2006. Joining when he did, the forward was a breath of fresh air and mesmerised fans with array of tricks and skills to beat opponents.

Romário

Despite only playing for Barcelona for two years, Romário had an incredible impact on Camp Nou as he scored 34 goals in 46 games for the club. Coming at the tail end of Cruyff's Dream Team he did not taste European glory, but his trick of scooping the ball past defenders with his in-step and his ability to pass the ball into the goal made him on of the best striker's ever to play for Barça. A hat-trick in a 5-0 win against Madrid also helped his popularity.

Ronaldo

His incredible 12 months at Barcelona saw him not just score at will, but also score some spectacular goals for the club. His driving runs, his power and precision made him the number one player in the world and he has never truly reproduced the form shown in that season. According to reports he did not want to leave Barça when he did, but his advisors and the money men ensured that the switch to Inter was pushed through and the Camp Nou lost an idol.

Hristo Stoichkov

The Bulgarian was a hero to the Camp Nou fans as much for his incredible speed and goal-scoring touch as for his sudden outbursts and displays of passion in the midst of games. Stoichkov was the most popular player in Johan Cruyff's Dream Team in the early 1990's and still holds a place in supporters' hearts today. He could score goals from free-kicks, by beating defenders or with a shot that many other players would not even have considered and that made him even more special.

Of course, many will not agree with all the selections because of the vast array of heroes and superstars that have donned the Barcelona shirt down the years.

A few names that were considered but did not make are Andoni Zubizarreta, Sergi Barjuan, Miguel Ángel Nadal, Luis Enrique, Guillermo Amor, José Rammón Alexanco, Maradona, Carles Rexach, Rivaldo, Luis Suárez, Gary Lineker, Luis Figo and Samuel Eto'o.

Is this team full of Barça's best ever players, or have others done more to merit a place in the side? Tell us who should be in the team and give a reason why, even if you are not a Blaugrana supporter.

(31 Tore in 38 Spielen!)

ASB-Legende

:ratlos:
