Liverpool über weite Strecken einfach formidabel! Arsenal wurde teils arg vorgeführt.

Vor allem Pennant und Crouch haben mir sehr gut gefallen! Von Links war ich etwas enttäuscht, kam nur vereinzelt was, und wenn dann meistens über Aurelio.

Mit Gonzales kann ich bis heute nichts anfangen. Freu mich wenn Kewell wieder fit ist! Bzw King Luis.

Wenn man gegen PSV auch so auftritt, dann dürfte das Rückspiel nur noch Formsache werden!....

RAFA PREDICTS A BRIGHT RED FUTURE

Rafael Benitez today predicted a 'brilliant future' for Liverpool Football Club after revealing details of his weekend meeting with new owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

The Reds boss met with the American duo on Sunday and emerged fully satisfied that the Reds are heading in the right direction.

Speaking in Eindhoven ahead of the Champions League quarter-final tie against PSV, he said: "It was an important meeting in terms of the future of the club and it went well.

"We spoke about our ideas for the future and everything was positive. I think this club has a brilliant future."

When asked how the recent takeover will affect his summer transfer budget, he smiled and added: "We have a big Champions League game against PSV to concentrate on and now is not the time to talk about money."

Ich hoffe, daß wir gegen den bisher so starken Aufsteiger, der in den letzten Partien aber etwas schwächelte, unsere gute Form beibehalten und einen weiteren Auswärtssieg landen.

Nach dem zuletzt schwachen Auswärtsspiel in Birmingham ist die Mannschaft gefordert eine bessere, konzentriertere Leistung abzurufen als gegen Villa um nicht leichtfertig Platz 3 an Arsenal abzugeben. Ich hoffe das gelingt unseren Reds

Mit Ausnahme der Langzeitverletzten (Kewell, Luis Garcia, Fabio Aurelio) kann Rafa aus dem Vollen schöpfen. Ich denke der Spanier hat wieder die eine oder andere Aufstellungs-Überraschung parat - viell. lässt er ja wie in einigen Auswärtsmachtes heuer schon gesehen wieder mal einen 3er-Sturm auflaufen Crouch ist derzeit ohnehin in Topform; Kuyt und Bellamy würde das eine oder andere Tor im Hinblick auf das Saisonfinish (PL & vor allem CL) mit Sicherheit gut tun...

Man darf gespannt sein.

EDIT: Die heutige Aufstellung - Rafa bleibt also beim 4-4-2. Gerrard wieder im rechten Mittelfeld und Xabi Alonso nicht einmal Ersatz.

RAFA: WE DESERVED TO WIN

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez believes that his side deserved their 2-1 win over Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday, but he was also quick to point out that they were made to work hard for the three points.

“We knew it was going to be a difficult game,” declared Rafa, whose side are now five points ahead of Arsenal in fourth after they lost at home to West Ham. “They are a tough side to play against and they pressed us and worked hard. I think we have done a good job and in the end I think we deserved to win.

“We had chances in the first half to kill the game, but at half time we knew we still had to be careful because we remember how they came back against Manchester United earlier in the season.

“We made a mistake for their goal and then we had to try to change things by bringing on different players to give them more problems.

“We still have work to do to finish in the top four. We have to be careful, but hopefully we will play in the Semi Final of the Champions League and if we can win enough games before then, it will enable us to focus on that competition.”

Benitez explained that Xabi Alonso missed today's game because he had taken a kick on his shin.

Ich konnte vom gestrigen Match leider noch keine Ausschnitte sehen, aber es dürfte eine enge Angelegenheit gewesen sein.

Freut mich sehr, daß Dirk Kuyt endlich wieder ein Treffer gelungen ist - Reading liegt ihm scheinbar, denn im Hinspiel scorte er beim 2:0-Sieg gleich doppelt - und auch Neuzugang Alvaro Arbeloa immer besser in die Mannschaft wächst (1 Tor & 1 Assist in den letzten beiden PL-Partien ). Sehr erfreulich, daß wir im Finish doch noch 3fach punkten konnten und Arsenal aufgrund der Heimpleite gegen die Hammers weiter auf Distanz halten können. Well done, lads

Crouch set to stay

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez insists he has no intention of letting Peter Crouch leave the club in the summer.

The Reds manager has reportedly been given £40million to spend on strengthening his squad at the end of the campaign following the takeover of the club by Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Crouch was expected to be one player set to leave Anfield, particularly as Benitez has already agreed to sign Andrei Voronin on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.

However, Benitez told the Sunday Mirror: "I'm really pleased with Peter Crouch and I'm not selling him.

"All players have moments when they suddenly realise what they have to be doing and how to achieve things in their game and this has happened with Peter."

Crouch has scored 30 goals in 90 appearances for Liverpool and grabbed a hat-trick in last weekend's 4-1 victory against Arsenal.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez believes Harry Kewell may play against Wigan in two weeks' time.

Kewell is yet to kick a ball for The Reds this term after injuring himself at last summer's World Cup in Germany.

However, the ex-Leeds ace is back in training and Benitez believes he may be ready to make his first-team return against Wigan on 21st April.

"He's back in training," Benitez said in the Daily Star Sunday.

"But when you've been injured for a long time and you start working hard you get tired and need rest.

"He's close but how close? We'll need to see him playing in some small games first.

"Then after that we'll need to see him play eleven-a-sides.

"He will play again this season, though. Maybe in two weeks' time."

"The players have great belief and confidence in what he is telling them to do. When you get those two things together it is reflected on the pitch, especially in Europe, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

"Liverpool won the Champions League two years ago and there are a lot of positive things happening at the club.

"There is the prospect of a new stadium in three years, prospect of the Champions League and the prospect of Rafa having a few extra shillings to spend.

"He has always had money to spend, it's not like they have been paupers, and now they've inhe-rited this money.

ManCity - Liverpool FC

So nach dem CL-Halbfinaleinzug gilt es heute wieder mit einer konzentrierten Auswärtspartie bei den Citizens Platz 3 gegen die Gunners (Wengers Mannen empfangen Angstgegner Bolton... ) abzusichern.

ManCity hat sich in den letzten Partien gut präsentiert und nach einer schwachen Phase gefangen. Es wird sicher nicht leicht 3 Punkte aus dem City of Manchester-Stadium zu entführen. Ich rechne mit einem engen Match gegen eine physisch und zweikampfstarke Mannschaft, die uns ähnlich wie Reading nichts schenken und uns über 90 Minuten einen harten Fight liefern wird...

Trotz ihrer zuletzt guten Serie sind die spielerischen Mittel der Citizens aber begrenzt und wir haben ganz klar die individuell besseren Einzelspieler die uns zum Sieg führen sollten.

Bellamy ist neben Luis Garcia und Fabio Aurelio verletzt, Kewell zwar im Aufbautraining aber noch nicht 100%ig fit. Angeblich soll auch Robbie Fowler nicht spielen können...

Ich rechne daher mit folgender Aufstellung:

Wie schon beim 1:0 gegen PSV Eindhoven am Mittwoch ließ Trainer Rafael Benitez wieder rotieren und schonte diesmal zunächst die Stammkräfte Hyypiä, Crouch und Zenden.

The fight for justice continues...........ich hoffe die 96 haben den Truth day vom Himmel aus verfolgen können........der überwältigende Beweis das der Kampf für Gerechtigkeit noch genauso stark ist wie nach der Katastrophe.

Speziellen Dank auch noch an die Bhoys aus Glasgow die in den letzten Wochen gezeigt haben das wir den Kampf für Gerechtigkeit nicht alleine kämpfen und das sie wie in den Wochen nach der Katastrophe auch heute noch an unserer Seite stehen...

abschließend ein wunderschönes Werk eines sehr begabten Fussball-Poeten aus Liverpool.......hats off to you Mr. Kirby.

the bed is made, the curtains drawn

as silence greets the break of dawn.

The dusk gives way to morning light

revealing shades of red and white

, which hang from posters locked in time

Upon a pale white quilted sheet

a football kit is folded neat

with a yellow scarf, trimmed with red

and some football boots beside the bed.

In hope, the room awakes each day

to see the boy who used to play

but once again it wakes alone

for this young boy’s not coming home.

Outside, the springtime fills the air

the smell of life is everywhere

viola’s bloom and tulips grow

while daffodils dance heel to toe.

These should have been such special times

for a boy who’d now be in his prime

but spring forever turned to grey

in the Yorkshire sun, one April day.

The clock was locked on 3.06

as sun shone down upon the pitch

lighting up faces etched in pain

as death descended on Leppings Lane.

Between the bars an arm is raised

amidst a human tidal wave

a young hand yearning to be saved

grows weak inside this deathly cage.

A boy not barely in his teens

is lost amongst the dying screams

a body too frail to fight for breath

is drowned below a sea of death

His outstretched arm then disappears

to signal thirteen years of tears

as 96 souls of those who fell

await the toll of the justice bell.

Ever since that disastrous day

a vision often comes my way

I reach and grab his outstretched arm

then pull him up away from harm.

We both embrace with tear-filled eyes

I then awake to realise

it’s the same old dream I have each week

as I quietly cry myself to sleep.

On April the 15th every year

when all is calm and skies are clear

beneath a glowing Yorkshire moon

a lone scots piper plays a tune.

The tune rings out the justice cause

then blows due west across the moors

it passes by the eternal flame

then engulfs a young boys picture frame.

His room is as it was that day

for thirteen years it’s stayed that way

untouched and frozen forever in time

since that tragic day in 89.

And as it plays its haunting sound

tears are heard from miles around

they’re tears from families of those who fell

awaiting the toll of the justice bell.
