Every goal is special in its own way, but there are some that will go down in the history books as the most memorable and significant. They are the goals that live on forever within each of us. They are the goals that round out incredible numbers, like the one Alberto Gilardino finished today to bring the Rossoneri to 4,000 goals scored in Serie A.

This is indeed a stupendous figure and it also well worth noting that Milan scored five goals today against Ascoli. Those five actually take Milan to goals number 4001, 4002, 4003 and 4004. But that’s just icing on the cake and it does not even include Ronaldo’s two cancelled goals of the evening.

Milan had scored 3,999 goals up until today in the 2,444 games they have played since Serie A became a single round in the 1929-30 season. This is including the 1945-46 season and the playoffs.

It was no less than Rossoneri champion Marco Van Basten that netted Milan’s goal number 3,000 and tonight Alberto Gilardino sealed a pass from Ronaldo to take Milan to yet another prestigious landmark. Ricky Kakà and Gila signed sealed and delivered numbers 4,001, 4,002 and 4,003 with two apiece. And last but not least Clarence Seedorf rounded it off to make an even 4,004. Now, it’s time for the next 1,000 to take us to 5,000 as the enticing Rossoneri story continues to be played out from the field.

It's enough to just look at the table layout from February 11 when Ronie made his debut in a Milan 2-1 victory over Livorno: Lazio 27 points; MILAN 26; Inter 24; Roma 22; Fiorentina 21; Empoli 20; Sampdoria 15; Parma and Reggina 14; Livorno and Udinese 13; Cagliari 12; Chievo and Palermo 11; Atalanta, Siena and Torino 10; Ascoli and Messina 8; Catania 3.

The Rossoneri point average since that date in February has also seen a considerable increase from 1.66 per game (35 points from the first 21 games) to 2.36 (26 points in the 11 games since Ronaldo). Ronaldo has given a little something to the side in every game to confirm that there is a good reason to call him The Phenomenon. He is football royalty in motion, pure excellence for all fans to enjoy. Ronaldo has scored five goals and set-up three so far and of course there are his four disallowed goals as well (two of which were probably valid, against Chievo and Ascoli). He was also awarded a free-kick which Andrea Pirlo took and a penalty-kick which Alberto Gilardino took to draw Roma 1-1 on March 31 as well as winning a penalty at Ascoli for Kakà to convert.

Es gibt Zelebritäten, Prominente, Stars, Gefeierte, Helden, Kapitäne. Und dann sind da noch die Typen, auf die es wirklich ankommt. Typen wie Clarence Seedorf. Männer, die überall, wo sie sind, anecken, weil sie, wie der breithüftige Holländer, alles besser wissen und ihre Weisheiten auch noch jedem aufdrängen, wenn sie nicht gefragt werden.

Seedorf ist einer der unterschätztesten und besten Kicker, die Europa in den vergangenen 15 Jahren gesehen hat. Die lauwarme holländische Nationalmannschaft hat ihn nie wirklich angenommen, auch deshalb kickt sie so ineffizient und ärgerlich selbstverliebt, wie während der Weltmeisterschaft in Deutschland.

Seedorf war mit 16 Jahren der jüngste Debütant in der holländischen Ehrendivision. Mit Ajax gewann er den ersten seiner drei Champions-League-Titel, die beiden anderen mit Real Madrid und dem AC Milan.

Seedorf ist 31 Jahre alt, er ist kreuz und quer durch die Welt gefahren, war bei Real, in Genua bei Sampdoria und anschließend bei Inter, bevor er beim AC Milan sesshaft wurde. Unlängst hat ihm Trainer Carlo Ancelotti einen neuen Vierjahresvertrag verpasst. Kaká, Jankulovski, Pirlo, Gattuso, alles genial, aber auch irgendwie austauschbar. Ohne Seedorf wären sie nirgends. Wenn Liverpools Coach Rafael Benitez nichts einfällt gegen Seedorf, wird der das Finale der Champions League in Athen gewinnen.

Herbert Prohaska kann sich seine Analysen künftig schenken, wenn er nur über Manchesters eitlen Ronaldo raunzt und Seedorfs Gala beim 3:0 über ManU, einem klassischen Lehrstück von Hingabe, Disziplin und Genie, nach Spielschluss nicht einmal erwähnt. Prohaska soll sich Matthias Sammers Resümee im DSF nach dem Spiel Liverpool gegen Chelsea besorgen. Der redet über Fußball, wie Seedorf ihn spielt, hart, mit Verstand und überraschenden Wendungen. Seedorf hat insgesamt 81 mal für die Niederlande gespielt...

Das Problem mit Seedorf ist, dass er sich laut niederländischen Fans im Nationalteam nicht so bemüht wie er es für die Klubs bei denen er im Einsatz ist bzw. war tut bzw. getan hat....

Dies soll auch der Grund dafür gewesen sein, dass van Basten ihn nicht zur WM mitgenommen hat...

Ich kann über solche Entscheidungen nur lachen wenn ich mir die Spiele der Niederlande ansehe....mit einem Seedorf wären sie wohl ein wenig weiter gekommen bei der WM...

Als Milan-Fan weiss man seine Qualitäten sehr zu schätzen obwohl es auch Spiele gibt bei denen er ein wenig neben sich steht.....

Alles in allem gehört er schon seit Jahren zu den Besten der Besten Europas und Milan hat ihm sehr viel zu verdanken

Milan-Verteidiger Costacurta beendet Karriere

Alessandro Costacurta, Abwehrroutinier beim italienischen Serie-A-Klub AC Milan, will am Ende der Saison seine erfolgreiche Profi-Karriere beenden.

Sein Vertrag mit dem Champions-League-Finalisten läuft am 30. Juni aus und werde nicht mehr verlängert, sagte der 41-Jährige im Gespräch mit Journalisten.

Bei Milan wird Costacurta neben Mauro Tassotti als zweiter Assistent von Coach Carlo Ancelotti arbeiten. Ab dem 1. Juli wird er außerdem dem Teammanagement des Mailänder Klubs beitreten, berichtete Milans Vizepräsident Adriano Galliani.

Obwohl er nicht aus der Milan Jugend kam, würde ich ihn trotzdem als Legende der Rossoneri bezeichnen. Ein Wahnsinn, der Typ spielt schon über 20 Jahre im Dress von Milan.
