Zwar eine verständliche Aufstellung, mit dem CL-Finale vor der Brust - wäre aber schade, wenn durch so etwas die Abstiegsfrage entschieden wird (aber dieses Problem gibt es leider häufig am Saison-Ende)

Ja, wäre die Mannschaft nicht im Champions League-Finale würde sicherlich eine stärkere Mannschaft spielen, so werden aber wohl die 'squad players', die heuer v.a. in den Cup-Bewerben einiges geleistet haben, ihre Chance bekommen. Ehrlich gesagt wenn ich mir Hulls Form anschaue und da v.a. ihre Verteidigung kann ich mir gut vorstellen, dass man mit dieser Mannschaft dort drei Punkte holen kann. Das gesamte Mittelfeld besteht aus Nationalspielern, dazu kann man auch Evans und Foster (wenn auch nur als Ersatzmann) zählen. Also einfach wird das für Hull sicher auch nicht.

Wäre aber in jedem Fall Wahnsinn, da irgendwen wichtigen zu riskieren, Hull wird schließlich kämpfen was das Zeug hält.

Kann gegen Hull mithalten. Würde mir nicht gefallen, wenn wir dadurch den Abstiegskampf maßgeblich beeinflussen, allerdings glaube ich das gar nicht. Diese Mannschaft sollte höchst motiviert sein, Ronaldo würde auch gerne die Kanone wieder holen wenn es sein muss.

Finally. Nema is Players' player und Fans' Player of the Year:

Nemanja Vidic was named Player of the Year by United's fans and his team-mates at the Reds' awards night at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Vidic collected the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year, voted for by fans on ManUtd.com, and the Players' Player trophy, saying: "I'm honoured. I enjoy being here every day and playing with these players and working with the coaches. I'm very happy here."

The Serbian was a key figure in the team's title success, the Club World Cup and Carling Cup triumphs, and in reaching the Champions League final.

He wasn't the only winner on the night. Cristiano Ronaldo, who cleaned up with three awards last year, claimed the Goal of the Season accolade for his stunning strike against Porto in the Champions League.

James Chester was named Reserves Player of the Year. The 20-year-old was commanding as second string skipper, and enjoyed a successful loan spell with Peterborough.

Federico Macheda won the Jimmy Murphy Academy Player of the Year, an award justified by his performances at all levels this season. He's scored goals for the Academy and Reserves, while his match-winning strike against Aston Villa remains one of the season's defining moments.

Wayne Rooney led jubilant Manchester United players into an Italian restaurant last night - taking their Premier League trophy with them.

The 40-strong group, including Ryan Giggs, Carlos Tevez, Michael Carrick and Cristiano Ronaldo, got a standing ovation from staff and diners in San Marco's, Manchester, who chanted: "Glory, Glory Man United".

One customer said: "It was amazing. They were all beaming from ear to ear and were buzzing from securing the title. Everyone stood and clapped, then a few started singing Glory, Glory and everyone joined in. When they lifted up the trophy the place erupted."

United won their 18th title, equalling rivals Liverpool's record haul, with a 0-0 draw against Arsenal. They had baked potatoes, salad and cheesecake washed down with bubbly.

Ronaldo jumped up and down in his seat. When an attractive girl walked past their table they would clap.

Before leaving just after 7pm for a party at the Living Room bar he vowed: "Whoever comes home with me tonight will be a lucky girl."

Bleibt die Frage, ob SAF überhaupt einen Spieler einsetzen wird, der im Finale von Beginn weg spielen wird. O'Shea hat eine Startgarantie für Rom bekommen, von daher glaub ich nicht, dass er anfangen wird. Gerade die Fitness der Viererkette ist enorm wichtig...

Die Mannschaft von dir sollte aber in der Tat stark genug sein, um Hull zu schlagen - mit Kuszczak, O'Shea, Evans, Tosic, Fletcher, Gibson und Nani wären immerhin sieben Nationalspieler am Feld.

Sir Alex Ferguson: Every Woman In Milan Is Like Miss World

Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, 67, has admitted that - despite landing his 11th Premier League title - it is the European nights that get him most excited.

Ferguson distinguishes between the tribal nature of football in England, with separate factions including the Geordies, the Scousers, the Mancunians, and the Cockneys, to list a few from a somewhat larger list.

While, he claims, Spain and Italy are more cultured, with the smell of perfume and cigars dominating Madrid and Barcelona, and Miss World-like laden streets that are prevalent in Milan.

Ferguson is quoted by the Scotsman as saying, "England is about tribalism. You’ve these different countries in one big country. You’ve Geordies, Yorkshiremen — a game between Manchester United and Leeds is vicious — us and the Scousers. The atmosphere, the intensity, the rivalry — it takes your breath away.

"You’ve the Midlands and the London teams, all of them little pockets in their own right. That tribalism forces you to do well in the Premier League but the real excitement comes in Europe," he said.

"The Wednesday night atmosphere when you, maybe, go to Madrid and Barcelona. You can smell the cigars and there’s perfume wafting down from the stands. It’s wonderful, it’s different. I love it.

"You go to Milan and everyone’s so stylish. Every woman who passes you by is Miss World. The whole atmosphere at these places is unreal," he concluded.

Manchester United travel to Rome for a Champions League final showdown with Barcelona on May 27. It is not clear yet whether Ferguson was including David Beckham's wife Victoria in his assessment of Milan women.

Manchester United will try to inspire their players with an emotive tribute to Sir Matt Busby at the Champions League final against Barcelona in Rome next Wednesday. Busby would have turned 100 on the eve of the final, the 10th anniversary of Sir Alex Ferguson's first European Cup success, and the club have received permission from Uefa to create a huge mosaic in honour of their former manager at the end of the Stadio Olimpico that houses United's supporters.

The mosaic will spell "For Sir Matt" and will be made up of 16,000 red and white sheets, including a black and white portrait of the man who has been described by Ferguson as "the heartbeat of Manchester United". It will be unveiled shortly before kick-off and the organisers, the Stretford End Flags group, say they hope it will "inspire the team" and be "a tribute to the Godfather of football and the architect of the modern Manchester United".

Berbatov und Tevez beginnen wohl auf der Bank, somit darf man sich die Ashburton-Elf erwarten.

Vielleicht ganz interessant, angeblicher Kader für das Spiel am Sonntag:

Man Utd Squad: Kuszczak, Amos, Neville, Brown, De Laet, Ferdinand, Chester, Eckersley, Simpson, Fabio, Nani, Fletcher, Gibson, Tosic, Martin, Drinkwater, Macheda, Welbeck

Abgesehen von Ferdinand, der Spielpraxis bekommen wird, so SAF meint, dass das notwendig ist, kein einziger Spieler dabei, der im Finale spielen bzw. auf der Bank sitzen wird. Die Ausnahme ist natürlich Kuszczak, da Foster wieder mal für zwei Monate ausfallen wird

Sehr interessant auch, dass Danny Simpson, gerade von seiner Leihe aus Blackburn zurück, noch im Kader steht.. wird wohl das letzte Mal sein, für ihn gibt es keine Verwendung mehr...

Ich denke, man kann hier sogar schon ein paar Rückschlüsse auf den Finalkader ziehen: Neville dürfte (zurecht) gegenüber Rafael den Kürzeren ziehen (vergleichbar mit 1994, als Robson nicht im FA Cup-Finale spielen durfte), Nani hat sich aufgrund der fehlenden Konstanz heuer wohl auch keinen Platz im 18-Mann-Kader verdient (wobei er aus meiner Sicht zumindest noch Hoffnung hat...). Aufstellung gegen Hull ist schwierig vorherzusagen, würde mich aber über folgende Variante freuen (Tosic und Fabio auf einer Seite möchte ich unbedingt sehen!):

Eckersley - Ferdinand - Brown - Fabio

Nani - Fletcher - Gibson - Tosic

Macheda - Welbeck

Darauf basierend mein Tipp fürs Finale... lediglich ein Platz ist noch frei, und nachdem Fletcher leider fehlt, wird der 'Kampf' darum wohl zwischen Welbeck (der auch am Flügel spielen kann), Nani und Gibson ausgetragen.

Van der Sar; O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra; Carrick, Giggs, Anderson; Ronaldo, Rooney, Park.

Subs: Kuszczak; Evans, Rafael; Scholes, Tevez, Berbatov, ?

Richie De Laet hat übrigens eine 1-Jahres-Verlängerung angeboten bekommen, nachdem er in der Reserve überzeugen konnte (15 Einsätze, ein Treffer).

Zum morgigen Spiel: ich glaub, dass James Chester neben Ferdinand spielen wird, als Belohung für seine Leistungen bei den Reserves (bekanntermaßen ja auch Reserves Player of the Year).

Fergie hat beim Guardian gemeint, dass er "slaughtered" wird, wenn United verliert, allerdings spricht er auch das Faktum an, dass Barcelona am SA spielt und daher auch einen Tag mehr Regenerationszeit hätte.
