CONCESIO (BRESCIA) - Several minutes ago Mario Balotelli, who turned 18 years old yesterday, was given his Italian citizenship documents (including his identity card) by Diego Peli, the mayor of Concesio. The ceremony was attended by Balotelli's family, his friends and numerous journalists.

The Inter striker read the public request and after signing the necessary documents he was proclaimed a citizen of the Republic of Italy by the mayor. An emotional Mario offered an Inter shirt as a gift and received a medal as a symbol of his belonging to the town of Concesio.

"I thank my family, who have been close to me in this long matter, and all of you. I am happy to be an Italian citizen," said Balotelli, who will now meet the members of the press who were invited to the official ceremony.

------------

Offiziell Italiener :D mal schauen, ob er auch die Chance im Nationalteam bekommen wird... an den Leistungen sollte es nicht scheitern, wenn er sich weiterhin so entwickelt :smoke:

Quaresma: "It's a dream to be at Inter"

109015.jpg

APPIANO GENTILE - Inter's latest signing Ricardo Quaresma was introduced to the press after Tuesday's training session at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti. Accompanied in the press room by José Mourinho, Marco Branca and Gabriele Oriali, the Portuguese winger expressed his delight at completing a switch to Inter on the transfer window deadline day.

"I'm happy to be here at Inter and I know I have joined a great club," said Quaresma, who signed a five-year deal on Monday after passing his medical. "I am grateful to Porto for everything they did. Being here is a dream come true, but it has always been my goal to join a great club and this is a great team with great players.

"Physically and psychologically I'm well and I'm ready to face any team. I'm at the service of the coach and now it's important for me to work and integrate well."

Mourinho added: "When I arrived at Inter I asked the club for three players. Mancini, Quaresma and Lampard. The club has given me Quaresma, Mancini, and did everything to get Lampard, and when Lampard changed his mind, I said my alternative was Muntari. I have to thank the club and the president and Marco Branca and Gabriele Oriali for their work. I'm very happy with the club.

"As for Ricardo, I have to say that I wanted him for a long time. It has happened now. He has come at a very important time for us. It's a pity he didn't come here before the Super Cup because he would now have 11 titles instead of the 10 he already has. He can play on the right, on the left, in a 4-3-3, a 4-4-2, even on the bench and from the stands..."

Lo Monaco issued a stunning outburst this morning against Mourinho for the so-called ‘disrespectful’ comments he made after Inter’s 2-1 win against Catania on Saturday night.

“Someone who says these kind of things does not have respect for his adversaries,” roared Lo Monaco.

“He doesn’t respect the host nation [italy], or the coaches. He should think about his own problems. If he does not win this year, he should pack his suitcase and go back to his own country.

“Mourinho is simply someone who should be smacked in the mouth."

Mourinho has now responded to these comments, during which he belittles Lo Monaco by saying that he has never heard of the person.

"Some time ago I said that there were people who wanted to be on the first page of the newspapers by using my name and talking about me,” said ‘The Special One’.

“I have a sponsor who pays me to advertise him, and I do not give free publicity to anyone.

“As for Lo Monaco I do not know who he is. With the name Monaco I have heard of Bayern Monaco (Munich) and the Monaco GP, the Tibetan Monaco (Monk), and the Principality of Monaco.

“I have never heard of any others.”

This response by Mourinho, as amusing at is, is likely to lead to more accusations of arrogance and disrespect by the Calcio community.

Chi Monaco? Di Tibete? :D

Zeuge Yeboahs

Grande :)

Zanetti: "Me, Giacinto and that armband"

APPIANO GENTILE - Javier Zanetti presented himself in the press room at the training ground today with a selection of his captain's armbands and an Inter shirt with the number 600.

"I have lots of armbands," said Il Capitano, who celebrated six hundred outings for Inter in last night's win over Lecce. "The most important ones are those dedicated to Giacinto Facchetti and Peppino Prisco, two important people in Inter's history. I would never give away the one dedicated to Giacinto because he was ever present and it's impossible to forget him."

Zanetti was one of Massimo Moratti's first signings when the current president took over the club in 1995. "I'm very thankful to the Moratti family," said Javier. "I was very young and unknown when I came to Milan. I arrived from a small club (Banfield) and it was very hard to find myself in a big city like Milan. The Moratti family's faith in me was very important for me.

"I first heard about Inter when I watched Napoli's matches because Diego (Maradona) was playing for them. In Argentina they showed the most important matches of the Italian championship. And my mother told me that she went to the stadium of Independiente, where Inter played more than one (Intercontinental Cup) final. After a match with the national team in South Africa, then coach Passarella called me to his room and told me that Inter were to sign me. I wasn't expecting it. It was a friendly match in 1994, one of my first with the national team.

"I have arrived at six hundred matches now, but I continue to think about the next one, and I want to finish my career at Inter. When I look back I remember all the important matches and my team-mates. I've been lucky enough to play with many champions like Bergomi, Pagliuca, Zamorano, Baggio and Cordoba. And I will never forget the UEFA Cup final in Paris, when I scored and won my first trophy."

Zanetti will begin his seventh century of Inter appearances this coming Sunday evening when the Nerazzurri take on city-rivals AC Milan. "They deserve respect; they have improved and as always, it will be a hard-fought match. I think Inter will be ready because we have the time to make our best preparations for the derby, and we hope to do what the team is capable of doing to win it."

Chi se ne frega!

Moratti plans new Inter stadium

There are reports that Inter chief Massimo Moratti wants to move the Nerazzurri out of San Siro to a new home by 2012.

In the peninsula, stadiums are generally owned by city councils and leased out to the clubs.

Strangely, one of the exceptions to that rule is the Stadio Giglio, which is owned by Lega Pro sleeping giants Reggiana.

But now La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Inter President Moratti is tired of sharing the Stadio Meazza with city rivals Milan and is ready to propose a plan for a new stadium just for the Beneamata.

The new ground would probably be further out of the city with one possible site being the Rho-Pero region, which has excellent transport links.

Moratti is said to be an admirer of Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena and Ajax's Amsterdam Arena and reports suggest the new ground would be a 60,000-seater arena.

A number of restaurants, hotels and other shops would also be built to turn the area into a hub of activity even on non-match days.

Over the next two months, Moratti will be finalising the financial plans and the formal proposal should be made in December.

If the go-ahead is received, the new stadium could be open for action in 2012.
