Well, I for myself never expected any club to pay such a large amount of money for a player like Maierhofer so I'm pretty happy about the deal. He definitly was a popular player but he also caused problems when he couldn't just shut up and talked to the media about various club decisions. He is one of those players you either love or hate but I think he will perform well in england and if he gets a real chance I think he'll be able to score.

i guess it should mean except! otherwise it wouldn't make any sense...

Personally I think that Maierhofer is perfect for a PL team like the Wolves, people in Austria accuse him that he is not good with the ball and he has no handling, on the other hand he is very strict to himself and a great fighter, if it works out for him you will be very happy with him, if he is having a hard time it will be difficult to handle him...

Ich kann auch die Meinung einiger nicht nachvollziehen. Hat man vergessen wieviele Tore er für uns gemacht hat? Das er aus meiner Sicht ein wichtiger Faktor z.b. im Villa Park war?

Also mir tut es um den Langen auf jeden Fall leid und auch wenn der Salihi kein schlechter Kicker ist, aber seine Stärken liegen ganz woanders. Ob die Umstellung auf das System so schnell funktionieren wird, bezweifle ich etwas aber lasse mich gerne eines Besseren belehren.

Ausserdem haben wir jetzt einen Legionär zuviel - auch nicht gerade toll

Es tut einfach irgendwie weh, wenn man gute österreichische Spieler verliert(Korkmaz, Hoffer, Maierhofer), obwohl natürlich klar ist, das man bei einer gewissen Summe den Spieler ziehen lassen muss.

Vor wenigen Monaten hoffte ich noch unseren Traumsturm halten zu können und jetzt ist nichts mehr übrig...

I don't know whether you've already heard about his former career. This is a very impressive story.

Four year's ago he played in the fourth Austrian league.

Because of his own initiative he tried to sign a contract with Rapid and some other Austrian teams. His ambitions lead to an offer to play for Rapid's second team but this wasn't enough for Maierhofer. So he signed a contract with Bayern Munich to play for their second team. Although he couldn't achieve a professional contract to play for Bayern's first team, he played for two German second-league teams afterwards and changed to Rapid Vienna in winter 2007/08.

Stefan was a key factor for us to win the Austrian championship in 2008.

In my opinion he is a very special player. His technical abilities sometimes seem to be very limited, but his whole attitude is a positive factor for the team. Stefan’s self-confidence seems to be infinite and that's (beside of his size) one of the reasons he often scored his goals.

I don't really know your team in detail, but if Stefan gets good crosses or passes in front of the goal, he will use his entire body to score.

Naja, besserer Kicker muss nicht immer bedeuten, dass er auch erfolgreicher bzw. für die Mannschaft insgesamt wichtiger ist. Gerade Maierhofer hat auch Leidenschaft, Kampfgeist und Einsatzwillen gezeigt; alles Tugenden, für die Salihi bislang nicht berühmt ist. Versteh mich nicht falsch, ich mag auch Jelavic (dessen Vertragsunterzeichnung ich von Anfang an bejubelt habe); allerdings sind beide meiner Wahrnehmung nach eher ruhige Spieler. Es gibt aber Momente, wo man Typen wie Maierhofer einfach braucht. Und noch einmal: er war ein essenzieller Puzzlestein für die Mission 32, das sollten wir ihm nie vergessen.

PS: Nichtsdestotrotz war die Entscheidung in jetzt abzugeben natürlich richtig.

You can use the following text for your blog of course, please note that I'll try to post it also at the WW forums the next days or so to give the WW fans also a broad view about their new signing. I will try to stay objective to help you as much as possible, however some of the follwing lines may reflect only my personal view.

First of all thanks for your interest about our former Number 9, Stefan Maierhofer (I will keep his name short in the further text and will name him SM9). I'm gonna try to give you as much information as available, so let's get started:

SM9 came to us on loan in January 2008 as a result of a deficit in forward players. He has made a huge contribution to Rapid Viennas 32nd winning of the Austrian League, scoring 7 goals in 11 games, mostly as substitute with less time to play. In Summer 2008, he signed a contract at Rapid Vienna and played the whole season 2008/09, scoring 23 goals in 35 games, mostly headers or rebounds. Well, the further story is well known, so let's head over to the person SM9.

I don't really know why WW Official Site gave him the nick "The Neck", his nick in Austria is "Der Lange", translate most likely to "The Long One", as he is 2,02 m or exactly 6 ft 7,5''. But however you are going to name him, he definitely will be the largest guy in your squad

For me and many other fans, SM9 is an extraverted, sometimes even eccentric football player, as you can see on some youtube videos where he is celebrating his current goal. Among the Rapid Vienna fans, SM9 is popular due to his unique behavior, but also polarising within all fans. He is a showman with a huge self-confidence from tip to toe, but sometimes he is overacting, that is why he does not enjoy a consistently positive image among all of our fans.

As you also may have seen on several videos posted among the usual sites these days, he celebrates nearly every goal with a different celebration style. In every game he is highly motivated (the less minutes on field, the higher his motivation is), but sometimes over-motivation results in needless yellow cards.

His grimaces are legendary and I hope you will see a lot of them

Even if he lacks in technical skills, due to his height he has a good physical exertion and is always a defensive help in case of corners for the opposite team. Also, offensive crosses and corners for your team will always be dangerous for your opponents, since a jumping SM9 can get up to 8-9 ft to head the ball behind the goal line. Just make sure your crosses will find his head

He is also well known for his team motivating activities during play; determined (but sometimes also quite stubborn) and can drill his team mates to even more peak performance. He is also a guy who doesn't mince matters.

SM9 will either be loved or be hated, but no one will be blasé about him.

I guess also, that the Wanderers will have now many fans among Rapid fans (including myself), and I hope that you will survive in Premier League with an amazing Stefan Maierhofer!

I just wanted to say "Vielen Danke" to everyone who posted and pm me. I appreciate your time and thoughts.

I hope Rapid have a good season and beat Celtic in the Europa Cup.

Hopfully Wolves will stay in the EPL for another season and we'll all be happy as Rapid will get an extra €1m.
