zu deren Verteidigung... die sind auch in der Tabelle for Standard.

Ich find lustig, dass es da in Belgien 2 Namen gibt. Kortrijk, Courtrai

Man muss auch sagen, dass Standard KLAR besser war und gefühlte 50 mal nur die Stange getroffen hat. Aber eine ungute Truppe ist das auf jeden Fall

edit: ist Roulers dann Roeselare? und kann man das dann mit einer Niederlage gegen Kärnten vergleichen?

Nachdem weder das ASB- noch das "mrbonheur"-Christkind uns mit Lüttich Infos beschenkte, musste ich anderweitig ein Christkind besorgen.

Let me allow to introduce my team a lil' bit:

Liégé (Luttich) is situated at the south-east,in the French part,of Belgium. Actually Belgium is divided into three language zones: a french part (the south), a Flamish part in the North, where I live...( spoken language is Dutch) and a very little german part. Standard has fans all over the country

Standard Liège (Luttich) was founded in 1898 by english students and named after 'Standard Paris', one of the most succesful teams in those days. In 1921 Standard managed to go to first division and never degraded again, the longest first division streak among all current teams btw.

Standard has always been a rumourous team with great highlights and big reclapses. For example, in the sixties we managed to gain 5 titles, while in the seventies we couldn't succeed to win the championship. In the early 80ties Standard reached the top again and won three titles in a row. in 1982 we even reached the final of Europa Cup III, but onfortunately we lost against...FC Barcelona. In 1983 Standard managed to win its 8st title.

From that day on we were cursed for 25 years and had lots of financial problems. We had to wait until the new century until signs of a revival appeared. In 2007 we lost another belgian cup final, the third in a row... but at the start of the new season (2007/2008) we were unbeatable and finally won the title again. Last year we prolonged our title after a hard battle with big rival anderlecht (without capital lettre ( ) ) and were quite succesful in Europe where we suprised many teams: we also finished first in our group and even won from Sevilla, Sampdoria and Partizan after kicking the ass of Everton in the UEFA cup Qualification round. However in the next round we were distinguished by the Portugese Braga...It was a great adventure in UEFA cup but the last minute loss in the Champions League qualifying round after an heroic battle with Liverpool was probably the biggest disappointment of my life.

This year we are not doing well in the championship with currently a very bad 7th place. We had lots of injuries and some of our previous stars are performing at very low level. But as always we are hoping good days will come back soon and we hope our captain Steven Defour will bring back the fire in our team. In Europe we played Champions league for the very first time and managed to end at 3rd place with the youngest team that is currently playing in all European competitions... a home victory against Olympiakos and 2 draws against AZ (Holland) sufficed to prolong our European adventure...

Now it's up to you guys :-).

Our current best players are: Steven Defour (captain of the team, central midfielder), Dieumerci Mbokani (probably the best attacker of our league, however he was injured a lot and didn't perfom very well in the championship) and Milan Jovanovic (Serbian international and wanted by big teams across Europe), Axel Witsel is another great talent and he was elected by best player of our competition last year (normally he plays beside Defour at the centre of midfield). This year two new youngsters from our own youth managed the break-trough and suprised many scouts from international teams. The first is Eliaquim Mangala, a giant defender with huge expectations and the second one is Medhi Carcela, a small player with great technical skills...unfortunately the latter one is suspended in the two games because of a red card he received against Arsenal.

My knowledge of Salzburg is not very extensive. Of course I know your coach Stevens and I know Cziommer is a very good player. You also have a great attack with Zickler and Janko (him I fear the most, looks like a real 'bomber').

How is Afolabi performing?

What are your expectations of this duel?

We won't underestimate Salzburg, but we were happy we avoided Spanish and German teams in the raffle.

Došlo je do razgovora sa direktorom Štutgarta prošle nedelje u Dizeldorfu. Ponu?en mi je trogodišnji ugovor, a do 10 juna bi trebalo da obavestim rukovostvo "švaba" šta sam odlu?io. Od Štutgarta ?u dobiti šest, sedam miliona evra. Od toga ?e profitirati i Standard, jer sam u Lijež došao kao slobodan igra?, a zna se šta sam im doneo - rekao je za "Sport" Jovanovi?.

Kurze Übersetzung (O-Ton Jovanovic): Jovanovic hat sich am letzten Sonntag in Düsseldorf mit VfB-Verantwortlichen getroffen, die ihm einen Kontrakt angeboten haben, den er bis 10. Juni unterschreiben soll. Dort (also beim VfB) würde er für den gesamten Vertrag 6-7 Millionen € kassieren wovon auch er, als auch sein jetziger Verein Standard Lüttich profitieren, die eine stattliche Ablösesumme für ihn erhalten würden.

Zurzeit sind sie in der Tabelle vor Standard, aber ein Ausscheiden gegen Courtrai ist trotzdem wie ein Ausscheiden SBGs gegen Magna oder LASK im Cup (in der MS haben sich auch auswärts relativ locker 0:2 gewonnen), würde doch eher blamabel sein.

Ja, Roeselare ist Roulers auf flämisch. Eine Heimniederlage gegen Kärnten ist ungefähr vergleichbar, aber Standard hat heuer auch schon Westerlo, St. Trond oder Gent verloren, da ist sowieso der Wurm komplett drin.

Der Transfermarkt wird spannend, da liest auch noch von anderen Abgängen neben Jovanovic (Mbokani,Dalmat, etc.), mal schauen. Jovanovic wird ziemlich sicher gehen, im Sommer würde er ablösefrei gehen und Stuttgart will anscheinend was investieren.

aber es steht ja in dem artikel den wer gepostet hat, dass er bis 10.6 unterschreiben muss...wie soll er denn jetzt dorthin wechseln und erst in 6 monaten unterschreiben, herr hof?
