In the Futbol LIVE programme, Shakhtar midfielder shared his impression of the Champions League draw.

- Frankly speaking, of all the opponents we might get, I know the least about Rapid. Names wise, we havent got the most prominent opponents; unfortunately, I cannot say anything about their current performance. But I think everything will get clearer when Mister introduces us to the opponents in theory sessions. Nevertheless, they are a disciplined Austrian team with great dedication. How many times we played in training camps against the clubs of this country we always found it difficult. Therefore, I wouldnt say that we got easy opponents.

- Experts agree that style wise Rapid are very convenient opponents for Shakhtar. Shakhtars romantic football style, as Sergei Morozov put it, can bring them success against these very opponents. So the draw result is optimum ...

- Again, among those teams we might get Rapid seems to be the opponent we should outplay ... But I will never say so in my lifetime, because we have great respect for all our opponents. And, when we specifically get ready for the games against the Austrians, I will be able to say what kind of team they are and how to play them. We know that the order can beat class. Therefore, we will have tough encounters.

- Experts have noted that your previous opponents, Fenerbahce are stronger than Rapid both in terms of names and player selection. On the other hand, they were saying that today's Shakhtar are able to get prepared to take them on. What youve just said about the respect for the opponents, just confirms that. How does victory over the Turks inspire the team, give them self-confidence even after selling two key players?

- It was a good test for us. Mister said that those who survive this confrontation are likely to play in the group stage. So for us it is good psychologically that weve managed to make it past Fenerbahce - in terms of testing how we would feel without the players who left. But these games have shown that the team can play without them, that the team is up and running. That we are really one team, and not just separate individuals. So I hope that we will continue to play the same way, with the same dedication and the same requirements to ourselves. So we will be very seriously preparing for the games against Rapid.

In an interview to Futbol 1 channel, Shakhtar CEO commented on the Champions League draw.

- Sergei Anatolyevich, can we congratulate you on the draw or you're comfortable with its outcome?

- I think that at the last stage weve been a bit fortunate, so the draw, I think, is much better than the previous one. But life is like this: it gives you something here, but takes away something else there. In the third qualifying round, we got Fenerbahce - the strongest opponents we might face. At this stage, weve had a bit more luck. We'll play - we'll see.

- There is a certain dissonance. Fenerbahce made some major moves on the transfer market and have many big-name players now so the attitude to the opponents was appropriate. And now come Rapid, the game with whom Shakhtar are approaching being clear favourites.

- It is important that this favouritism shouldnt serve us a dirty trick. The biggest problem is underestimating the opponents. This sometimes happens to us. So I do not want us, the players and the club, to underrate Rapid. We need to prepare and aim to win. This is the main problem: God forbid that underestimation takes place.

- The club president Rinat Akhmetov has recently called the current Shakhtar the strongest in history, with Darijo Srna confirming this status. But now we have an unpleasant situation with Fred, which remains left without any official papers and answers. If the player still gets suspended, is Shakhtar ready to acquire a replacement player or they will solve the situation using their their own reserves?

- First of all, we should not rush things. It is necessary, first of all, to fully understand the situation with Fred. Based on the conversations we had with him, he says he did not use any drugs. Why he currently plays? Because there is no final decision. We cannot blame or not blame a player. We must still carry out an investigation and then take some decision. Today, we cannot get ahead of ourselves and say that we will acquire someone or that we wont ... It is necessary to take a decision when we are fully certain that the footballer has broken the rules and will be disqualified. Now I think that its somewhat improper and irrelevant to discuss it and try to find another player for this position.

- Nevertheless, your opponents are doing it. There are reports that Fenerbahce filed a lawsuit in Lausanne. Although we understand that there are no official papers available as to Fred having taken illegal drugs. Please confirm or disprove it.

- There is no paperwork. Moreover, an hour before the game, we were together with Fenerbahce, with the UEFA delegate and talked in front of them. I asked the UEFA delegate: Do you have any papers forbidding us to field Fred? He replied: No. Fred can play. But at the same time Fenerbahce files a suit against us. Although a Fenerbahce representative came up to me and told me this in a private conversation: Sorry, we have nothing against you personally, we are trying to tackle UEFA. How they are trying to tackle them, thats, as they say, their personal problems. Let them do it if they want to.

- How do they treat this situation at the club, within the team? How annoying or unsettling is it for you? Or it doesnt affect Shakhtars preparation in any way, including the match against Rapid?

- Definitely it affects us, because both the coaching staff and the player himself start getting nervous. Therefore, it affects us, and affects very seriously. We want to alienate this situation from the team, so that the guys can focus on football and not on those legal and paperwork issues. Of course, its not very good for us that weve faced this problem at the moment.

Braucht einen dennoch nicht so sehr vom Hocker hauen. Sicher kein einfacher Gegner aber die hatten schon einmal einen stärkeren Kader.

Und das EINE Viertelfinale ist auch schon 5 Saisonen her.

2013/14: als 3. ausgeschieden (Manchester United, Leverkusen, Sociedad)

2012/13: als 2. punktegleich mit Chelsea, trotz schlechterem Torverhältnis wegen den Auswärtstoren im direkten Duell durchgesetzt (2:1, 2:3) (Juventus, Chelsea, Nordsjaelland) - im AF gegen Dortmund deutlich ausgeschieden

2011/12: als 4. ausgeschieden in einer Gruppe mit APOEL, Zenit und Porto

2010/11: Gruppensieger vor Arsenal, Braga, Partizan - im AF gegen AS Roma durchgesetzt und Viertelfinale deutlich gegen Barcelona ausgeschieden

Also genau wie gedacht, bissl überm Niveau von Ajax. Wie gesagt, wir sind Rapid, wir haben auch schon erfahrene Mannschaften geschlagen, ned nur so Buberlntruppen wie aktuell Ajax und die Dosen.

Meine Einschätzung über das Los Donetsk!

es hätte wahrlich schönere Gegner gegeben! Sportlich sind wohl alle zu ziehen gewesene Mannschaften echte Kaliber, ja auch Sporting zähle ich dazu!

Für uns macht dieses Los keinerlei Unterschied zu den anderen, wir sind krasser Außenseiter der mit breiter Brust versuchen wird dagegen zu halten! Das es für manchen Fan weitaus schönere Reiseziele oder attraktivere Gegner gegeben hätte, darüber lässt sich streiten, sportlich gesehen ist es eben wie es ist!

Denn eins sei sehr vielen von euch gesagt, wollen wir wirklich CL Gruppenphase spielen und auch in dieser reüssieren bzw. überraschen, dann muss man eben auch die stärkeren und unangenehmen Gegner annehmen und versuchen zu schlagen!

Wir wissen so denke ich alle, wo man Rapid einordnen muss, unterschätzen wird uns keiner mehr und wir werden sicher zu Chancen kommen, jedoch werden es nicht viele sein, man muss diese eben eiskalt nutzen! Dann kann auch gegen Gegner der Marke Donetsk das unmögliche gelingen!

Aufgegeben werden nur Briefe, und selbst diese nicht mehr!!

wobei da müssen wir uns auch erst mal auf gut 25 punkte hochspielen um dann im playoff noch gesetzt zu sein. aber du hast schon recht, selbst als ungesetzter ists verhältnismäßig einfach in die gruppenphase zu kommen. nochmal den cl-weg über die platzierung wirds so schnell nicht spielen, einerseits ist der zweite cl-platz weg und andererseits sind wir - bis der 2. cl-platz wieder da ist - sowieso nur mehr im meister-weg vertreten.
