Saka tut mir unendlich leid, der muss den ganzen Scheiß und Müll auf Twitter und co jetzt einmal schlucken. Für ihn wohl das erste mal, Rashford ist das ja schon gewohnt 

Man hat ihm die Nervosität richtig angesehen, aber Hut ab das er sich das trotz allem zugetraut hat vom Punkt, was andere (vermeintlich) arrivierte Spieler nicht gemacht haben.

Southgate sagt er hat die Schützen bestimmt nach Trainingsleistungen bzw seinen Eindrücken. Denke schon das ein Kyle Walker oder so auch geschossen hätte bzw nicht ablehnen würde.

Saka tut mir auch leid aber der wird aus der Erfahrung noch stärker hervorkommen bin ich mir sicher

Das macht das ganze ja noch absurder sollte es stimmen. Die Frage ist halt ob ein Saka in so einer Situation überhaupt ablehnen würde, was ich aber nicht von ihm erwarten kann. Da kann er im Training noch soviele Elfer versenken, da reden wir vom EM Finale im Wembley. 

Ein Rashford würde wohl so oder so antreten, so wie er das auch schon in der Vergangenheit gemacht hat, ob es aber so cool ist in der letzten Minute eingewechselt zu werden, kalt, wenn man im ganzen Turnier keine Rolle gespielt hat frag ich mich schon (gilt auch für Sancho). Das hat Christoph Kramer beim ZDF auch so gesagt. 

Ich hoffe Saka kann das soweit gut verarbeiten und man unterstützt den Buam auch dabei.

Bei sowas braucht man Erfahrung und nicht nervöse junge Kicker, Southgate hat es vercoacht

Hat mich auch sehr verwundert, was da im Elfmeterschießen auf englischer Seite passiert ist. Zurzeit zwei nur fürs Elfern einwechseln und dann die ganzen jungen Spieler schießen lassen. Da sollten schon ein Sterling, Stones oder Shaw noch eher die Verantwortung übernehmen. Auch die ausgewechselten Walker und Henderson schätze ich als nervenstark und erfahren genug ein, dass sie hier nach vorne treten.

Hoffe auch, dass unser junger Kicker das schnell aus dem Kopf bekommt und das positive vom Turnier mitnimmt.

Scouting report: What Arsenal fans can expect from Nuno Tavares

Nuno Tavares is set to become Arsenal’s first signing of the summer and very much fits the remit for the direction Mikel Arteta and Edu want to take the squad.

Compared to previous summers, the transfer targets identified have predominantly been younger players that not only add to the current squad but who will continue developing in the future. Albert Sambi Lokonga, 21, has qualities unique outside of Thomas Partey in midfield, while Ben White, 23, is viewed to have as big an impact in possession as he does out of it.

Tavares, 21, has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time but the situation was accelerated by Benfica’s financial situation. Napoli and Southampton were both interested in the player, but when clubs enquired earlier this summer, they were quoted a substantially higher price (€15 million). Arsenal’s willingness to do the deal quickly meant they got a very attractive price.

As the club look to avoid the registration crisis they faced last summer, the fact the Portuguese will not take up non-homegrown squad place this season — as his January 2000 birthday classes him as an under-21 player — will be a further benefit. He would take up a spot from 2022-23, however.

It’s also important to consider is the youngster will arrive as yet another Portuguese-speaking defender. Last season, Gabriel Magalhaes particularly benefited when playing next to David Luiz. Pablo Mari — having played in Brazil — also speaks Portuguese and as Tavares will play outside either of those two left-sided centre-backs, this could help him acclimatise.

Stylistically, Tavares deputising for Kieran Tierney would provide not only a natural backup but a more seamless transition between the usage of left-backs. Other than physicality, Sead Kolasinac’s biggest strength was arguably cutbacks across the opposition penalty area, while Granit Xhaka was used more as a deep-lying playmaker at left-back. Both lacked the athleticism both Tierney and Tavares possess to be multi-faceted threats for opponents.

The Portuguese will not be a carbon copy of Tierney, but will be closer to what the 24-year-old offers than previous options.

In possession, he will look to overlap his winger and receive the ball high upfield to either cross, or help sustain attacks.

Smarterscout is a site that gives players a rating from 0-99, relating to either how often a player does a given stylistic action compared with others playing in that position. Should he receive the ball deeper, he tends to try and beat his man to get down the wing and cross rather than focusing on helping build play in either defensive or middle thirds as seen with his “carry & dribble” smarterscout rating of 98/99, “link-up play volume” of 92/99 but a “ball retention ability” rating of 35/99.

One thing to note with this is that the 21-year-old does back himself to draw a challenge and have the close control and agility to get out of trouble with skill. Leaning on his ball skills in these situations may be more difficult against more aggressive players in the Premier League, however.

Tavares tends to lift crosses to the far side of the penalty area rather than firing the ball towards the near post. This is likely due to Haris Seferovic’s aerial presence, but will change at Arsenal considering Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored just three headers for the club and Alexandre Lacazette may struggle to consistently win these duels, despite proving he can get on the end of crosses at various points in his Arsenal career.

Despite it being pointed out the youngster can play right-back because he is two-footed, he only featured on the right in six per cent of his games in 2020-21. He played left-back 81 per cent of the time and was pushed further forward to left wing-back in 13 per cent of his games, which could allow Arteta to experiment if he wishes to revert to a 3-4-3 at any point in the season.

Being two-footed helps as he can cover right-back/wing-back if needed, but it also helps when attacking down the left flank when opposition players attempt to force him towards the corner flag.

Here, against Porto last season, there was an attempt to drive him into the corner, but he spins away and crosses with his right foot.

He picks out Nicolas Otamendi at the back post, but the Argentine’s knockdown doesn’t reach a Benfica team-mate.

What also stands out about Tavares is the amount of aerial duels he attempts.

As seen in his 2020-21 pizza chart, he has an “aerial duel quantity” rating of 99/99. Standing at 6ft, the left-back is also built very well and backs himself as a result.

The majority of these duels come from switches of play, long goal kicks and throw-ins and when there is space to judge the flight, the 21-year-old will look to impose himself in the air, mostly against smaller wingers.

When challenged by players of a similar height, however, is not as authoritative, twisting in the air and leading his headers to lack direction at times. Keeping this context in mind will be important as although his willingness to take to the air will be an asset, results will vary.

Very attack-minded, the defensive side of Tavares’ game is where there is most scope to improve. As expected at full-back, much of his encounters involve disrupting opposition attacks in more one-on-one scenarios, as opposed to reading the game with interceptions and ball recoveries. Since signing in 2019, Tierney has proven to be adept in both the direct conflict of defending, but also anticipating what is to come seconds before the actions unfold and this is where his understudy can develop.

His physical presence once again helps in those more traditional defensive situations, however. Especially against smaller wingers.

In this situation against Vitoria Guimaraes, for instance, former Tottenham Hotspur winger Marcus Edwards receives the ball. Tavares engages quickly, shuts down the space and shepherds the ball out for a goal kick.

When he does not close down that space as quickly as possible, however, Tavares can be left vulnerable, as was the case when he came on against Arsenal in the Europa League last 32 last season:

 

Arsenal will know they are not signing the finished product with Tavares. He does not need to be either, considering Tierney is their undisputed first choice who has just signed a new long-term deal to stay at the club.

In the main, however, he will solve one of the issues that plagued Arteta last season.

With Kolasinac on loan to Schalke last season — and expected to leave this summer — the worst-case scenario of Tierney getting injured occurred twice. First time around, Cedric filled in and did a reasonable job. Second time around, Xhaka slotted in and “had a specific role” as a more reserved playmaker.

Now, should Tierney need a rest, there will be no panic around what happens at left-back.

Arsenal view this as a low-risk investment. Considering Tavares’ age, if the signing does not work out, he will remain a saleable asset. As Tavares is definitely capable of deputising for Tierney, has a reasonable base level of talent and is young enough to develop further, however, the hope will be that his future does remain in north London as a potential successor to the Scot one day.

All in all, he will not be the most attractive arrival of the summer, but an important one.

Ein paar Möglichkeiten, wie Tavares eingesetzt wird, außer als einfacher Tierney Ersatz als LV:

In einem 3-5-3 in dem Tierney (wie schon öfter) links in der 3er Kette spielt, ist Tavares wingback.

Als left winger (als Back-up oder in Cup-Spielen), da er anscheinend das Potenzial dazu besitzt.

Als RV wenn der Gegner einen rechtsfüßigen "inverted winger" auf Links einsetzt.

Ben White incoming. 50m Pfund

Gabriel - White is halt schon ein geiles CB Paar. White PL proven im Gegensatz zu Saliba (wobei daran eben der Club Schuld ist), da startet man in die Saison immerhin gleich mit Souveränität hinten. Ist jetzt nicht so schlecht gegen Chelsea und City in einem Monat. Dahinter Holding, Mari, Chambers als Ersatz kann schon was. Wohl in der Tiefe die qualitativste IV nach Man City und Chelsea (und evtl. Pool).

Kritik an dem Deal ist halt dass man das Geld woanders dringender braucht. Naja abwarten was noch kommt. Es wird viel geredet von einem großen Umbau
