Packers DT Williams zu den Browns für 2nd Rounder

NFL Network has reported that the Packers will receive the Browns' second round pick in this year's draft in exchange for Williams. That pick would be the 25th of the second round and 56th overall. The Packers also have their own 60th overall selection.

The Journal Sentinel reported Tuesday that league insiders thought the Packers would seek a second-round pick for Williams.

The Packers surprised some by placing the franchise tag on Williams, which called for any club to surrender two first-round picks to the Packers if they signed Williams. But by placing the tag on Williams, Packers general manager Ted Thompson basically bought more time to either sign Williams to a long-term contract, or trade him for less that two first-round picks. It appears the Packers have opted to do the latter.

Vilma geht wohl zu den Saints.

Jonathan Vilma finally got his wish — to get out from under Jets head coach Eric Mangini.

The Jets have agreed in principle to send the Pro Bowl linebacker to the New Orleans Saints for a conditional draft pick based on Vilma's playing time, as he's coming off major knee surgery.

Although there had been reports that the Lions were the frontrunners to acquire Vilma, ultimately the Saints came away with the 6-foot-1, 230 pounder.

New Orleans tried to sign Zach Thomas, who eventually signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys last week.

Vilma stared in the 4-3 scheme but struggled when Mangini installed the 3-4 when he came to New York in 2006. A knee injury sidelined Vilma for much of the 2007 season and required surgery.

The four-year pro has started 53 games with six interceptions, five forced fumbles and 2½ sacks. He also won Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2004.

Espn.com - The Eagles have signed free-agent cornerback Asante Samuel. The Eagles agreed to a six-year contract on Friday with Samuel, who spent the last five seasons with New England and had 16 interceptions the last two years.

Well you could see this one coming a mile away. Personally I'm kind of glad he's gone because I couldn't look at him the same anymore after he dropped that layup interception that cost me my perfect season. No matter what he did for the rest of his Pats career he'd always be that guy that took me back to Black Sunday.

mir noch immer nicht klar ob 2nd oder 3rd rounder - da kennt sich im moment wohl keiner aus. in anbetracht der fa bis jetzt und dem 3rd und bodden deal müsste es auf jeden fall ein 2nd rounder sein. williams dürfte aber auch noch nicht bei den browns unterschrieben haben - irgendwie seltsam was man so in den foren liest. na ich hoffe es wird was aus dem deal, somit bekommen wir wenigstens was für ihn.
