Most of us are very happy about the draw - not because we think that Anderlecht is an opponent Rapid could beat easily, but simply because we believe, that it is a much weaker opponent than Alkmaar, Spartak and Sampdoria, so it was a good draw for us relative to the other possibilities .

Thanks I understand. Well I think that AZ might have a better team , they raised their budget a lot since a few years. We are better than Sampdoria normally and at the same level as Spartak but a Russian team is never easy.

Please don't focus too much on the match against Fenerbahce on Wednesday, we had a off-day in general. We had to make 1 goals and after 4 minutes, they scored such a stupid one, blamed to Boussoufa our left forward, so we had to make 3, and pressure became to high, so our performance was bad for the rest of the game.

In general, we are very disappointed , for being kicked out of the CL, but now we have set some new goals, which is qualify for the quarterfinals, whcih means stay through the winter in Europe...

I think that Rapid is the best , strongest opponent we could meet. But I like good challenges , so it's not a problem.

that is the point. and beside it, i think we prefer to go to brussels, instead of moscow. a nice city, with great beer!

i think most see our chances at 50:50. me, i would say its 60:40 anderlecht.

anyways, we have our chance!

Duell der Rekordmeister

Fliegen die Violetten aus Brüssel aus dem Europacup?

Die Auslosung der ersten UEFA-Cup-Runde hat am Freitag das Duell der Rekordmeister von Österreich und Belgien gebracht.

Während sich der SK Rapid durch den UI-Cup in die erste Hauptrunde kämpfte und dabei Slovan Bratislava, Rubin Kasan und Dinamo Tiflis ausschaltete, ist für den RSC Anderlecht der UEFA-Cup nach dem Out in der Champions-League-Qualifikation nur ein "Trostpflaster."

Fanrandalde gegen Fenerbahce

Aber es ist noch gar nicht sicher, ob es am 20. September und 4. Oktober zu den Partien, die über den Aufstieg in die Gruppenphase entscheiden, kommen wird.

Am Mittwoch war es im Constant-Vanden-Stock-Stadion von Brüssel (Anderlecht ist ein Vorort der belgischen und europäischen Metropole) beim Rückspiel der Champions-League-Qualifikation gegen Fenerbahce zu schweren Zuschauerausschreitungen gekommen.

Die Fans der Violett-Weißen ("Les Mauve et Blanc") waren bei der 0:2-Niederlage, die das Ausscheiden für Anderlecht bedeutete, auf gegnerische Anhänger losgegangen. Ein Dutzend von ihnen waren nach dem Schlusspfiff verhaftet worden.

UEFA kündigt Sanktionen an

Zehn Minuten vor Ende musste die Begegnung für einige Minuten unterbrochen werden. Rassistische Gesänge von beiden Fanlagern hatten die Stimmung angeheizt, Anderlecht-Spieler mussten beruhigend auf ihre aufgebrachten Anhänger einwirken, die versuchten, in den türkischen Fanblock zu gelangen.

"Wir warten die Berichte der UEFA-Delegierten und der Schiedsrichter ab, wir nehmen die Vorfälle sehr ernst. Falls ein Club für schuldig befunden wird, wird es Sanktionen geben", betonte ein UEFA-Sprecher am Donnerstag.

Pacult: "Ein klingender Name"

In einer ersten Reaktion sagte Rapid-Trainer Peter Pacult: "Anderlecht ist ein interessanter Gegner mit einem klingenden Namen. Das ist sicher eine reizvolle Aufgabe für uns."

Spielmacher Steffen Hofmann sah es ähnlich: "Anderlecht ist ein schweres Los. Dieser Verein hat in den letzten Jahren oft in der Champions League gespielt. Aber wir haben ein großes Ziel, nämlich in die UEFA-Cup-Gruppenphase zu kommen, und wir werden alles tun, um das zu erreichen."

Wunderbar. Angesichts der möglichen anderen Gegner, ein wirklich schönes Los. Das werden 2 enge, umkämpfte Spiele, sicherlich nichts für schwache Nerven. Dennoch allein die Auswärtsdestination ist ein Hammer! Würde mal optimistisch meinen, die Chancen stehen knapp 50:50 vorausgesetzt wir halten die momentane Form und können Auswärts ähnlich wie zuletzt auftreten.

Bin Auswärts jedenfalls fix dabei und voller Vorfreude auf 2 heiße Partien gegen die belgischen Veilchen!

Glaub eher, dass die nicht wissen, dass wir noch die Möglichkeit haben das Heimrecht zu tauschen..

aber dieser meldung zufolge waere das heimrecht ja schon getauscht, oder?

wir wurden ja zuerst gezogen und ich nehme an 'home match' ist aus der sicht der belgier gemeint ...

Can you tell me something morge about your team, stadium , atmosphere and best players?

Our home stadium is Hanappi-Stadion, opened 1977. It is an all-seater football stadium that currently has ~18.000 seats. The fans are very close to the pitch, the support is mostly "ultra"-style, with chanting fans on both sides of the stadium behind the goals, and sometimes the whole stadium taking part in chants, so the atmosphere usually is very good, even in international comparison.

But it is possible that the game will be played in the Happel-Stadion, which is the largest stadium in Austria with ~50.000 seats - but it is a track&field stadium, so the atmosphere would be considerably less intense.

Our team played very badly during the whole year of 2006 for various reasons, but it had a good run in the spring of 2007 (which got us into UI-Cup) and continued getting stronger in the new season after a couple important transfers - especially in the defense. You probably don't think highly of austrian football, but I doubt our league is much weaker than the belgian. Rapid is a team that plays very offensively with a strong midfield and fast players on the side. And we haven't lost a game at home in more than a year now. Rapid is the leader of the austrian league at the moment, and deservedly so, Rapid, Austria Vienna and Red Bull Salzburg are playing more or less at an equal level right now.

The most important players probably are: Steffen Hofmann, right/central midfielder, captain and football god () - Markus Heikinnen, defensive midfielder - Branko Boskovic, another central midfielder and Marco Tokic, defender.

In case you remember Rapid's pitiful appearence in the Champions League two years ago: Especially against Brügge we were very unlucky not to score any points, we were definately the superiour team in our home game and pure stupidity kept us from taking at least a draw in Brügge as well. Plus, the team this year probably is stronger than the one from the CL-season (most of the players from that year have left the club btw). We could even have beaten Bayern at home, the rest of the games were just terrible from our point of view.

How would you compare the atmosphere at Anderlecht games to Brügge? The support at the Rapid game in Brügge in the champions league was very impressive, but I know next to nothing about belgian football.

that's true, duvel is amazing. but augustiner's good too, so we'll have to get past you and draw bayern in the group stage.

chances are about even, i guess. anderlecht might have had more success in the past few years, but our team's in a really great shape at the moment...especially at home...

Don't know really, I was kind of standing between the riots, my place in the stadion is around that gate they tried to open. And there didn't happen that much, the Fenerbahce fans, got in the stadium with lots of fire and that also is forbidden, so they should be punished too in that case. They just tried to open a gate, and there were 11 people arrested for fighting with the Turkish fans. Just like it happens form time to time everywhere.

Playing without fans in the stadium should be very overreacted.

Well first of all Bruges is our enemy nr 1

Second of all, they say the atmosphere in our stadium is a bit less because we are the richest club and we have lots of people with a lot money come and watch the game, so they are not that fiery. But we have a good support and when we play good, the fans can be all extraordinary.

By the way, yes I have seen the games against Bruges and yes you deserved more.

The only player I really know is Hoffman, he's very good in my opinion.

Our best player is Lucas Biglia, Center midfield...

Hehe, that sounds like our nr. 1 enemy, Austria Wien... They even wear the same colors as Anderlecht.

rapid wien is by far the hottest club in austria.

if i have to compare it to women, i would say, rapid is naomi campbell.

extremly fuckable, but a little bitch too.

so it is clear, that all other clubs and their supporter hate us, but on the other hand, they adore us for being rapid, and in their innerself, they would love to be rapid-supporters too.

and one big disadvantage for anderlecht, you might yet not be aware of it, are your colors.

we react allergic on violet. we hate it! our coach usually starts the training with 5 minutes of chanting "viola merda".
