MANCHESTER United's global search for young stars with the X-Factor is set to extend into a new continent.

The Reds are finally on the verge of tying up a link in South Africa with Wits University.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has long been exploring the possibility of tapping into the talent in South Africa and former United goalkeeper Gary Bailey had been in on the discussions.

United did have a link with current player Quinton Fortune's old club, Fortune FC, but that was eventually ditched when it failed to provide the foothold and link in the country that the Reds wanted.

But the Old Trafford club have been keen to establish another deal and are now on the verge of signing up with Wits University.

United's alliances stretch across the world from Australia (Parramatta Eagles) to South America (Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo).

In Europe, they have links with Nantes, in France, and Sporting Lisbon in Portugal, Sweden, with Brommapojkarna, and the most successful being Royal Antwerp in Belgium, who have provided grounding for young players like John O'Shea in the past.

Shelbourne, in the Republic of Ireland and Connah's Quay, in Wales, have also become alliances nearer to home.

Also ich kann nur sagen, Leverkusen-Liverpool kommt mit Flug, Ticket und einer Übernachtung in einem Ibis Hotel auf 203 Euros. Mailand wird sich wahrscheinlich in der selben Grössenordnung abspielen.

Also wenn da meine geschätzten Kollegen eine Reise nach Mailand planen, dann lasst es mich auch wissen. Schließlich will ich den historischen Triumph in San Siro nicht verpassen Milan ist schon ein sehr harter Brocken ..... naja ..gegen starke Teams agieren wir meist besser als gegen vermeintlich leichtere Gegner. Aufstiegschance: 50:50.

Wirklich sensationell, was ein einziges Erfolgserlebnis alles bewirken kann. Scholes hat jetzt in den letzten vier Ligaspielen nicht weniger als sieben (!) Tore geschossen und ist somit bester Ligatorschütze .. das bei Van Nistelrooy, Rooney, Smith und Saha im Team.
