It isn't so hard to get: Jelavic plays against Villa -> Jelavic isn't allowed to play for any other team

A player is not allowed to play for two clubs in an european competition. The only exception: He only played in the first three qualification rounds and his former club does not qualify for  the group stages.

Conclusion: Jelavic can not play for Rangers in CL, if he plays for Rapid in the 4th QR.

ok, for the last time: that spokesmen uses the term "qualifying round". however, officially, play-off is NOT a qualifying round.

and again, just read the rules written in the official UEFA regulations file. it´s as simple as that really.
