John Elkann: «Blanc will be executive president»

A few days before the expiry of the mandate of the current board of directors, John Elkann wanted to bring an end to recent rumors and announced that the role of president of Juventus will be entrusted to Jean-Claude Blanc, who is already the general manager and general administrator: «He will be the executive president. It is another step towards a competitive approach».

The Exor president thanked Giovanni Cobolli Gigli «for these three difficult years during which he gave so much. It also thanks to his work that Blanc can assume this new role». As foreseen by the stock market rules, the official list of the new board members will be announced on Monday, in view of the share-holders meeting on the 27th of October.

In conclusion, John Elkann spoke of the latest results achieved by the team: «I am disappointed but we will work with great humility. The road is long and there is a lot of potential.»

Former Juventus director Luciano Moggi has had plenty to say on his former club recently

Former Juventus general director Luciano Moggi believes that there is still too much of a gap between Inter and his former club, and this will lead the Italian champions to retain their league title.

He highlighted the main areas where the Bianconeri are weakest and questioned certain transfer market decisions made this past summer.

"Inter will easily win the Scudetto this year," affirmed Moggi to Studio Stadio.

"The main difference is especially in midfield.

"Juventus lack a real director and rather than Felipe Melo, I would have purchased [Gaetano] D'Agostino, obviously not at those prices.

"Also, attackers like Amauri and [David] Trezeguet require crosses from the wings. Therefore I don't understand why no wingers were purchased."

Moggi also said that he is certain that no Italian team will triumph in this year's Champions League.

"I'm sure that this year no Italian team will win the Champions League," he continued.

"There's too much technical gap with the main European teams. I see as big favourites [Carlo] Ancelotti's Chelsea."

Moggi's predictions seem to be correct right now as Inter currently have a four point lead over Juventus, after just nine matches in Serie A this season.

Iaquinta muss operiert werden

Vincenzo Iaquinta wird für längere Zeit aufgrund einer Verletzung ausfallen

Juventus Turin muss für längere Zeit auf Italiens Nationalstürmer Vincenzo Iaquinta verzichten.

Der 29-Jährige zog sich am Samstag im Training eine Knieverletzung zu und fehlte deswegen beim 2:1-Sieg des Klubs von Alexander Manninger in Siena.

Iaquinta wird voraussichtlich sechs Wochen ausfallen. Eine Operation am Dienstag soll mehr Klarheit über die Verletzung des 33-fachen Internationalen bringen.

In dieser Saison schoss der Weltmeister von 2006 in der Serie A drei Tore.
