WELCOME BACK, RUUD!

Pascal Cygan is set to play in defence again for Arsenal while Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira should be fit.

Manuel Almunia will replace Jens Lehmann, while Ashley Cole, Lauren and Dennis Bergkamp are set to return.

Ryan Giggs should recover from a hamstring strain to take his place in Manchester United's squad.

Roy Keane and Paul Scholes should also return to the starting line-up but Alan Smith and Darren Fletcher are both doubtful with ankle injuries.

Arsenal: Almunia, Eboue, Campbell, Cygan, Cole, Lauren, Clichy, Ljungberg, Owusu-Abeyie, Vieira, Flamini, Reyes, Bergkamp, Pires, Van Persie, Fabregas, Henry, Lehmann, Hoyte.

Man Utd: Carroll, Howard, G Neville, P Neville, Ferdinand, Silvestre, Brown, O'Shea, Heinze, Fortune, Ronaldo, Scholes, Keane, Fletcher, Miller, Giggs, Rooney, Saha, Smith, Bellion.

BIG-MATCH FACTS

# ARSENAL get their opportunity to avenge the 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford in October in this eagerly awaited return and much-hyped Premiership showdown, which is being billed as a battle for second spot. The Red Devils denied the Gunners the half century of unbeaten Premiership matches three months ago. Now the north London giants are pursuing a 50th home League win over their deadly rivals.

# The Gunners have faced United once since the Premiership clash which proved such a turning point in their season. They lost 2-0 at Old Trafford in the Carling Cup. Nevertheless Arsene Wenger still holds the advantage in the head-to-head count with his great adversary Sir Alex Ferguson. The Frenchman has 11 wins to his name, Sir Alex 10 with six draws (counting last season's Community Shield, decided on penalties, as a United win). This will be their fourth meeting this season - Arsenal having won this season's Community Shield 3-1 at the Millennium Stadium in August.

# If the Gunners avoid defeat they will extend their top flight club record of unbeaten home games to 33, leaving them just three short of Manchester United's all time Premiership record of 36, set between December 1998 and December 2000. Should Arsenal keep a clean sheet, it will be their 200th in the Premiership.

# MANCHESTER UNITED are still very much alive in this season's Champions League, but will still be out to gain the victory here to take second spot off Arsenal and put themselves in the driving seat for automatic entry to the group stages of next season's competition.

# The Red Devils are unbeaten in 13 Premiership matches. Since losing 2-0 at Portsmouth on 30 October, United have drawn three and won ten, including the last three on the bounce away from home, with clean sheets in all three. This match pits the club whose Premiership games have produced the highest number of goals, against the one whose matches have yielded the least. Arsenal's 24 games have totalled 78 goals (53 for, 25 against) while United's have comprised of 51 (37 for, 14 against).

# United are on a five match unbeaten Premiership run against Arsenal. They've won two and drawn three since the Gunners' 0-1 win at Old Trafford on 8 May 2002. They completed the 'double' over the Red Devils that season having won the home fixture 3-1 on 25 November 2001 - United's last League loss at Highbury. The last two top flight visits have been 2-2 and 1-1 draws, and United's only win in seven League visits was 1-2 on 22 August 1999. Ferguson's side could complete a second Premiership 'double' over Arsenal, and first since 1996/97. In all, they've registered 13 home and away League wins over the north London club since they first engaged in League combat in 1894.

let 'em come
