Hab das Spiel leider nicht sehen können. Hat Parma einige Spieler fürs Kellerduell gegen Brescia geschont, oder wurde mit der 1.Elf gespielt?

Das Kellerduell gegen Brescia wurde vergangenen Sonntag mit 2-1 gewonnen, dieses Wochenende gehts auswärts gegen Lazio.

Und nein, außer Morfeo, Grella, Cardone und Frey (die ersten beiden waren verletzt) wurden eigentlich keine Stammkräfte geschont. Gilardino spielte 120 Minuten, Bresciano etwa 60 und Marchionni 70.

Parma call for U-25 UEFA Cup

Parma chief operating officer Luca Baraldi wants the UEFA Cup to be transformed into an Under-25 tournament.

"I would like to limit the competition to players under the age of 25," revealed the Stadio Tardini official.

"It could be a way of giving new life to the Cup which has already been re-launched this season with the introduction of the group phase.

"It would also provide a concrete signal to clubs about the importance of youth academies in the game."

Such a rule change could pose problems for some sides but not Parma, who will face Sevilla on Thursday with a host of youngsters.

"We are simply wasting no time and we will turn up in Spain with around 10 players who have come through our own youth system," added Baraldi.

"Developing youth can guarantee the future of a club such as this one. We really couldn’t keep players like Marco Di Vaio, Adrian Mutu and Adriano here in the past.

"We need to keep consistently producing young players, be able to pick the right ones and then finance ourselves by selling them on."

Boss Pietro Carmignani has named a 20-man squad for the Spanish trip but he’s left out Alberto Gilardino.

The star striker has been rested for Sunday’s massive relegation clash against Atalanta. Ferronetti, Morfeo and Simplicio have also remained in Italy. Paolo Cannavaro and Bolano are suspended.

gratulation an parma. man hat zwar kein auswärtstor geschossen aber eine sehr gute vorstellung abgeliefert. damit ist im rückspiel durchaus ein aufstieg drinnen.

An inexperienced Parma side collected an impressive 0-0 draw at Sevilla to keep their UEFA Cup hopes alive. Many expected the Italian outfit to struggle in Spain this evening but they remained compact to frustrate the Liga outfit.

Despite Parma being just 180 minutes away from a place in the last eight, boss Pietro Carmignani named a weakened and very young side. The tactician did field goalkeeper Sebastien Frey, but left attacking gems Alberto Gilardino and Domenico Morfeo at home in preparation for Sunday’s six-pointer against Atalanta.

The first half was a lively one even if there were few real scoring opportunities in the opening 45 minutes of play. The home side went close on 13 minutes with a set-piece but Frey dealt with the danger competently. The Frenchman was alert again just five minutes later to stop an excellent Baptista effort.

Parma were playing some decent football at times and threatened to net a potentially crucial away goal on two occasions. After 22 minutes, Vignaroli played in Marchionni but the winger was stopped by the Spanish defence. Ruopolo would have bagged the opener just before the break, had goalkeeper Esteban not wisely rushed out of his penalty area to clear the ball after a dangerous counter-attack.

Carmignani opted to field a little more experience after the break by bringing on both Daniele Bonera and Mark Bresciano. The latter made an immediate impact when his cross from the left almost looped into the back of the net. Only a desperate save from the ‘keeper denied the Australian what would have been a spectacular goal.

Sevilla tried to make the most of their home advantage but it was the Italian boys who almost scored with five minutes left. Bresciano floated in a free-kick which Grella just diverted wide of the post. It was a chance that could have given Parma a significant advantage with the Tardini tie still to come.

Yet that wasn’t the final chance of the night as substitute Makukula was incredibly denied by Frey on 91 minutes. Situated just a matter of metres from the goal line, the Sevilla player’s fierce effort was expertly stopped by the former Inter No 1. Then deep into stoppage time, Navas took advantage of a scramble in the area but his shot hit the post and Parma survived.

Parma hat übrigens 8 (!!) gelbe Karten erhalten, nur gut dass keiner der Spieler zwei bekommen hat. Hab mir das genauso vorgestellt, hinten werden wir zumachen und dann hoffen dass nichts passiert - zum Glück ist es gut gegangen.

Im Rückspiel sollte man Gila und co. dann wieder bringen, damit es zum 1-0 Sieg reicht
