Weil es hier einige gibt die meinen, unsere INT und somit unser Sieg wäre reines Glück gewesen: Hier die Entscheidung, wieso Belichick nicht das Timeout vor der game winning INT genommen hat:

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick on Wednesday explained his thinking regarding the sequence at the end of Super Bowl XLIX when he didn’t call timeout prior to cornerback Malcolm Butler's interception.

After the ball was snapped with 1:06 remaining and Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch advanced the ball to the Patriots' 1-yard line, the clock ticked down to 26 seconds before the next play, Butler’s interception. This would have cost the Patriots precious time on offense had Seattle scored.

So why no timeout?

During his weekly appearance on sports radio WEEI, Belichick said he considered a timeout but decided against it after seeing what personnel Seattle brought onto the field (three receivers).

“We put our goal-line defense in probably around the same time they were sending in their multiple receiver group, and that's kind of what we wanted to be in there, to make sure they didn't run the ball in,” Belichick said.

“I'd like to think had they tried to run the ball against our goal-line defense, with three receivers on the field -- we couldn't ask for any more than that in terms of trying to stop the running game. We saw that matchup and we certainly gave some consideration to taking a timeout there and leaving some time on the clock. I don’t know if that would have been a bad thing to do. It might have been a good thing to do.

“But it just seemed like in the flow of the game that we were OK with where we were.”

Then Belichick brought up an interesting wrinkle that few who aren’t involved in game-day communication might have considered: With more media on the field for the end of the game to capture the postgame scene, sometimes communication systems that teams use can be affected.

Belichick mentioned Super Bowl XLII against the Giants, saying that happened to the Patriots at the end of that game.

“All the TVs and everything go down on the field right at the end of the game, then your communication systems that were working OK during the game then break down at the end. That was the same thing that happened in '07. I thought that the signaling and the communication by [defensive coordinator] Matt Patricia and the defensive players, in order to get those subs on and off, was really good. We handled that part of it well.

“Then Malcolm made a great play on the two under three route. That’s pretty much what happened from our end.”

Und genau das ist ja so bitter. Im Endeffekt sieht BB das die mit 3 WR agieren, denkt die Passen, bzw. Denkt er mit der Aufstellung kommen die mit dem Run nie in die Endzone....

Da musst doch erst Recht laufen bitte.... Natürlich muss der RB hier den Ball mit beiden Händen festhalten, dann gibts 2 Möglichkeiten...

TD und wenig Zeit für Brady....

Kein TD und 2 Versuche noch offen. Zeit verlierst kaum denn entweder BB nimmt dann sofort das TO oder man selbst nimmt das TO und Lynch hat 2 Versuche iwie mit dem Ball an der Linie zu kratzen....

Passen hier ist einfach fetzendeppert.

Mark Cuban defends Seahawks' pass call

OAKLAND, Calif. – Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban considers the many critics of the Seattle Seahawks’ decision to pass from the 1-yard line with the Super Bowl on the line to be “idiots.”

Russell Wilson’s pass was intercepted at the goal line by New England Patriots rookie cornerback Malcolm Butler with 20 seconds remaining, killing the Seahawks’ comeback hopes. That prompted an avalanche of criticism from people who thought Seattle should have handed the ball to Pro Bowl running Marshawn Lynch, a group that included many current and former NFL players.

However, Cuban believes Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Darren Bevell made the right call despite the disastrous result.

“If it was me and that happened, I’d be pissed, but I wouldn’t be mad at the coach and I wouldn’t be mad at the call,” Cuban said. “If they ran it and got stopped, I would be mad. Because then that means you p------ out.

“Those people that said, ‘Oh, it’s the worst call ever,’ they’re idiots. Never take advice from someone who doesn’t have to live with the consequences. So what I say is worth what it’s worth, but they’ve never been in a situation where you’ve got to make a call where everything, literally everything, is on the line. If you’re afraid to go with what’s gotten you there, you’re not long for this league.”

Cuban praised the Seahawks coaching staff for “the randomness of the plays that they called” and not playing to the odds.

“I don’t know if they gave the reason why they called that particular play, but there’s a reason,” Cuban said. “I’ll go with the logic of that reason versus conventional wisdom every day, because the guys who follow conventional wisdom are the ones looking for jobs right now.”

Man kann über den Call von Seattle natürlich debattieren. Wenn der Spielzug aufgegangen wäre, hätten die meisten gejubelt. Jetzt herrscht blankes Entsetzen. Ich kann aber beide Seiten verstehen. Sowohl jene, die einen Laufspielzug bevorzugt haben als auch jene, die das pass calling verteidigen.

So knapp vor der Endzone den Ball zu werfen, ist in meinen Augen einfach fetzendeppert.

Wieso? Einfach weil 10 mal mehr Dinge schief gehen können, als richtig.

Das ist ein Fakt. Es geht ja nicht nur um die Interception. Selbst ein Sack hätte fatal sein können.

Ja selbst ein incomplete Pass hätte New England zumindest ein TO erspart, was auch einen Ausschlag gegeben hätte.

In dieser Situation, schickt man Lynch durch die Mitte und hofft irgendwie, dass der Ball an der Endzone kratzt....

Im Endeffekt, hätte man hier auch durch (wenn nicht gerade zu offensichtlich) ein Holding helfen können. Keiner der Zebras hätte mMn die Eier, in dieser Situation den TD abzuerkennen und sich jahrelangen "War es ein Holding?" Debatten auszusetzen.

Garantie gibt es keine, dass hier der TD durch den Lauf gelingt. Aber im Endeffekt, musst du in dieser Situation, dass geringste Risiko nehmen (anders als zum Ende der ersten HZ, da kannst gern das Risiko nehmen).

Aber gut, so können wir wirklich ewig diskutieren....

Eh klar - ich hab auch nicht wirklich Stress damit.... Nur seh ich schon nen unterschied "auf menschlicher Ebene" zwischen einem "U mad bro" und einem "Bitch Mode"

Ganz zu schweigen davon wie die Reaktionen darauf waeren wenn sich Lynch/Sherman nen Football auf dem "Brady" steht bei ner moeglichen Siegesfeier an die Eier gehalten haette....
