Wichtiger Spieler

Rumours, Rumours:

REO-COKER AXED AND WILL BE SOLD

WEST HAM skipper Nigel Reo-Coker has been sensationally axed from today's FA Cup tie against Brighton and is set to quit the club within the next week. Tottenham are to make a shock bid to take the England Under-21 captain across London while Bolton are also among the prime candidates to prise him away.

Spurs are also in the hunt for Hammers striker Marlon Harewood as White Hart Lane chief Martin Jol has fallen out with Egyptian striker Mido, while Bobby Zamora is being lined up by Reading. But in an amazing transfer merry-go-round Harewood and team-mate Hayden Mullins have also been offered to Charlton in part-exchange for Darren Bent, put up for sale at £15million yesterday - a valuation that desperate Hammers may be ready to meet.

Ruthless West Ham boss Alan Curbishley is also set to sell Yossi Benayoun to Portsmouth for £4m and has beaten ex-Hammers boss Alan Pardew, now at Charlton, to the signature of Dinamo Moscow's former Chelsea midfielder Alexi Smertin, who will join on loan with a view to a £2m summer deal.

Ausverkauf geht weiter..

NRC, Yossi, Mullins, Harewood & Zamora bald weg?

Curbishley hits out!

Filed: Saturday, 6th January 2007

By: Gordon Thrower

The boss had a few strong words for the gentlemen of the press at the post match conference after the 3-0 victory over Brighton....

Just before we get going, a lot has been said over this last week. Perhaps I've realised that I'm at a different club. A lot of stuff has been spun round and used in different ways and I'm disappointed with the press coverage of certain things that I've said over the last week so I want to clear a couple of things up now.

This isn't part of the press coverage. I've been here four weeks and I've been outraged at the criticism that Nigel Reo-Coker has received since I've been here, as if it's his fault that we're in the bottom three. That's total nonsense and I'd like everyone connected with West Ham - and I can't have any influence over yourselves - but I'd like everybody connected with West Ham to leave him alone.

He's a young boy and it's not his fault. it's easy to pick on people and he's been picked on. That's the first thing - and you can write that as I just said it.

Secondly, In a press conference yesterday I was asked what sort of players I was gonna bring in. I did say someone like Boa-Morte, someone who is experienced, who could come into the club and go into the first team and not be fazed by the situation we're in.

I was also asked about the activity there had been this summer. I said that there had been a lot of activity but that not many of them had established themselves in the first team.

If you look at it that means the Argentinian lads, who haven't established themselves, Paintsil and Mears, who haven't really had a chance, Bowyer's been in and out, Spector's been in and out. Robert Green's been in but I've rested him today.

It's been spun round that I've been blaming all the players that have come in here this summer for our problems. That's been completely spun round and I'm so disappointed with the headlines. I'd like you to print what I said. I'm not blaming any of the players that came in in the summer. I wouldn't do that - people who know me know that.

What I did say was that the players who came in in the summer haven't gone straight into the side and established themselves which I think is what the club needed and probably it's what the club need now. That's why I've been looking to bring in experienced players who can go into this situation and deal with it. I'd like you to print that and that is the end of my press conference.

(At this point, as Curbishley walked out of the room, a well-known journalist who really ought to have known better was heard to mutter "Pathetic" to which Curbishley replied "you should print what I SAY").

Hammers no go for SWP

Shaun Wright-Phillips is understood to have told West Ham that he does not want to move to Upton Park.

The England winger was lined up by The Hammers and the East London outfit were willing to pay big cash for the 25-year-old. However, skysports.com understand that Wright-Phillips has stated that he does not want to join West Ham.

Wright-Phillips's rejection will give hope to the likes of Newcastle and Aston Villa that they could yet land the former Manchester City flyer. However, it is far from clear whether Chelsea will agree to any loan deal - which at this stage looks the only option open to both Newcastle and Villa.

Alan Curbishley has been handed a boost by the news that Dean Ashton is close to completing his rehabilitation from the broken ankle he sustained back in August.

The 23-year-old striker is set to finish his recovery and treatment with the Club's physiotherapy team in the next couple of weeks and will then move on to a period of one-to-one fitness work with Head of Sports Medicine Niall Clark, leading up to his eagerly-awaited return to full training.

"The ankle is feeling good and I have been very happy with how things have gone recently," says Dean. "I've been running and kicking a ball, which has been fantastic, and the physios have been first class with me.

"It's now five months since I sustained the injury and, as far as I am concerned, everything is on schedule and going to plan. Now it's just a case of taking each day as it comes until I am where I want to be.

"I'm not going to name a date for my return to full training with the rest of the squad, but I'm feeling very positive about the situation and I can see that I'm getting closer to reaching my goal."

Head Physiotherapist Steve Allen says: "We have been delighted with the progress that Dean has made recently, and he really has stepped up his rehabilitation in the past couple of weeks.

"To see him running and kicking a ball freely is wonderful, and we are now reaching the stage where he can really push on with his fitness work in the next few weeks.

"His next step will be to work closely with Niall Clark and, once he feels ready, we can look forward to seeing him back out there on the training pitch with the rest of the squad."

Transfer latest

There's only 20 days to go until the transfer window closes once more ... we round-up the latest situation regarding the players tracked by the Hammers in recent days.

Lauren (Arsenal)

Arsenal's Arsene Wenger announced today that the 29-year-old Cameroon full-back would be allowed to leave the club after six years service. Eggert Magnusson has already spoken to Lauren and if terms are agreeable a decision is likely to be heard by early next week. However several other clubs remain interested and could yet scupper United's plans.

Ashley Young (Watford)

Hornets boss Adrian Boothroyd revealed last night that he had rejected a £7m bid for the 21-year-old winger. Most press assumed that that bid was from West Ham United although it has been suggested since that the rejected offer was instead from Aston Villa, with the Hammers set to raise the bar imminently. Tottenham are just one of a number of clubs also thought to be showing interest.

Lucas Neill (Blackburn)

28-year-old full-back Neill has been cited as one of the Premiership's best recently and it is little surprise that several clubs - including Newcastle and Liverpool - are interested in signing him. West Ham United are thought to have made the best offer financially thus far for a player whose contract expires this summer; as with Lauren, a decision is likely to be announced in the early stages of next week.

Alexei Smertin (Dynamo Moscow)

A bid for the former Chelsea player who is available on a free looks doomed after Smertin's agent revealed that he didn't want to join a club embroiled in a relegation fight (whilst signing another player in his position - Nigel Quashie - doesn't appear to have aided United's cause). Fulham now look most likely to sign the 31-year-old midfielder.

Shaun Wright-Phillips (Chelsea)

He came, he saw, he buggered off sharply. Despite a £10m fee being agreed between the two clubs Wright-Phillips failed to agree terms with United. The 25-year-old winger appears to be keeping his options open having also rejected Aston Villa's advances this week. Chelsea appear to have burnt their bridges somewhat, so expect further activity towards the end of the month.

Mark Viduka (Middlesbrough)

Gareth Southgate has stated categorically that the Aussie striker - whose contract is up in the summer, and who has already been the subject of a (rejected) bid from United of around £500,000 - will not be leaving 'Boro during the transfer window. However with Southgate in the market for a striker himself a potential swap deal involving Marlon Harewood has been (speculatively) mooted in some quarters. A has been reported by several sources.

Freddy Ljungberg (Arsenal)

Although strongly linked with Swedish international captain Ljungberg, United's interest isn't thought to have extended to much more than a phone call enquiring into his availability. Stories of supposed £7m bids - such as those that appeared in the Sun earlier in the week - would appear to have been wide of the mark.

David Beckham (Real Madrid)

We all know now that Beckham is off to America - yet the Hammers had enquired into his availability as late as Wednesday. However even Magnusson and his pals - affluent as they are - would have struggled to match the ridiculous $250m the former England captain will earn in the next five years.

Halbzeitstand gegen Fulham 1-1

16' Radzinski 0-1

28' Zamora 1-1

Gestartet sind wir mit folgender Elf:

-------Tevez-------Cole---------

Boa-------------------------Yossi

------RC ©----Quashie---------

McC---Collins---Gabbs---Dailly

-------------Carroll-------------

Subs: Mullins, Spector, Green, Newton, Zamora

Heut wieder unser Skipper Nigel Reo-Coker dabei.
