Perrotta to join Del Neri?

Now that Gigi Del Neri is officially the new Coach at Porto, Chievo warn Roma that his protégée Simone Perrotta could follow.

?Perrotta is not a Roma player,? assured Director General Giovanni Sartori. ?The Giallorossi are interested, but there are other sides looking at him, including Porto.?

There were reports emerging that the midfielder had already agreed a £5m move to the Capital, but that it would only be announced after Euro 2004.

However, the Flying Donkeys took great pains to point out this was certainly not the case, and Roma must raise their offer if they are to beat off competition from European Champions Porto.

?Perrotta deserves a prestigious and great club for the future of his career,? added President Luca Campedelli, ?but there is no agreement in place with Roma.?

The 26-year-old is now an Italian international, but his career truly flourished under Del Neri?s guidance and it seems the tactician would like to continue this rapport in Portugal.

Chievo must also look to their own future, and the director general pointed to their next Coach. ?It will be one out of Beppe Iachini, Attilio Tesser or Mario Beretta.?

All these tacticians currently ply their trade in Serie B. Iachini is a free agent, having already announced his departure from Vicenza, while Tesser took Triestina to the verge of promotion. Beretta is also on the fringes of the battle for the top flight with Ternana.

Meanwhile, Del Neri has waved goodbye to the club that brought him fame and fortune.

Roma, Parma in talks over player swaps

AS Roma and Parma are locked in talks over several of their respective players.

Roma coach Cesare Prandelli has identified his former stars, Alberto Gilardino and Matteo Ferrari as the players he wants to take with him to his new club.

Parma are prepared to do business and have asked three players in exchange - Gaetano D'Agostino, midfielder Alberto Aquilani and Damiano Ferronetti.

Aquilani and Ferronetti have just completed an outstanding Serie B campaign on-loan at Ternana.

Liverpool linked with Roma's Dacourt

Liverpool are being linked with AS Roma midfielder Ollie Dacourt.

The French international is also a target for Barcelona and Juventus, says Gazzetta dello Sport and has expressed an ambition to join a Champions League chasing club.

Dacourt has been with Roma for 18 months, joining from Leeds United and has resurrected his career in Italy.

Juventus boss Fabio Capello is understood to have requested the services of Spanish ace Joaquin Sanchez.

Capello is a massive fan of the right-sided midfielder and he’s asked transfer guru Luciano Moggi to make an enquiry.

The tactician already wanted the 22-year-old at Roma two years ago but the capital side didn’t deliver.

Now Capello is hoping that his new club could successfully capture the Betis Seville starlet.

However, the Turin giants may struggle to pull off the proposed swoop given his transfer fee.

Betis value the youngster at a massive £18m, a figure that the Old Lady of Italian football are unlikely to offer.

Juve may find it simpler to content Capello with the capture of Inter stopper Fabio Cannavaro. A swap deal with Lilian Thuram still seems on.

In other transfer news, Stefano Bettarini is eyeing a summer switch from Sampdoria to Bologna.

"Carlo Mazzone knows me well and we have an excellent relationship," said the left-back.

Bettarini, who won international honours last season, is also ready to take a cut in salary. He currently nets £500,000 a year but is prepared to accept £350,000 a season.
