Reports coming out of England claim that Frank Lampard and Chelsea's relationship is at breaking point, and that Juventus are ready to beat Barcelona with an official bid.

Lampard's ongoing contract dispute with the Stamford Bridge bosses is no secret, and rumours of a move, particularly to Barcelona, have long been doing the rounds.

The News of the World quote a 'club insider' as saying that an agreement with the Blues is "highly unlikely."

"This looks like the end of the road for Frank and Chelsea," the insider went on to say.

Barcelona seem to be the favourites for the midfielder, but the Catalans are unwilling to make a concrete move until the La Liga season concludes in three weeks' time.

The report suggests that Juventus are supposedly set to make the most of that with an official offer in the coming days, particularly as the end of the Serie A season sends the transfer market into overdrive.

The Turin giants are aggressively chasing quality midfielders as they prepare for their return to the top flight.

A new FIFA clause allows Lampard to buy out the rest of his Chelsea contract, meaning that Juve could land him for a bargain price. However, any move is almost certainly going to be made only after they appoint their new coach

Pizarro ist kein schlechter Stürmer, aber er hatte bei Bayern auch nicht immer einen Stammplatz. Und Chelsea ist doch eine klare Stufe über Bayern zu stellen. Also sicherlich nicht zu erwaten dass er in der Stammelf steht.

Als Ergänzungsstürmer ist er sicher gut, nur den 3. oder 4. Stürmer im Kader ein Gehalt von 3,8 Mio. € zu geben ist etwas krass.

KENYON: HAPPY TO BE OUT-SPENT

As summer transfer activity continues to go to plan, chief executive Peter Kenyon believes Chelsea's low spending compared with Manchester United will not hinder the attempt to wrestle the title back from Old Trafford.

While the cheque book has not been needed so far to bring Steve Sidwell, Tal Ben Haim and Claudio Pizarro to Stamford Bridge, Man United have spent heavily to add Owen Hargreaves plus Portuguese pair Nani and Anderson to their squad.

'I am not worried about what they have spent,' insists Kenyon.

'I think it has surprised everybody how quickly they came out the box and what they have spent but that is their business.

'We are always looking at how they have strengthened in terns of how we have strengthened but that is not just in terms of money.

'We are happy where we are. We have not gone for players and not got them. We had a list and we have three out of the four people.

'There is money and we are going to spend money on Malouda and if there were other players we felt were the right players, there is money to spend on those.

'This is very much José's wish in terms of what he wanted and which positions he was looking for and there were other players on the list if we didn't get the ones we have. José is very happy with the squad he will have at the start of pre-season.'

Kenyon is not ruling out top fees being paid for individuals in future years if judged the best course of action but is also placing great faith in investment in youth development - the new Cobham facilities part of that.

However that won't stop Chelsea this summer from being linked with a whole range of players - Spurs' Pascal Chimbonda, Sevilla's Daniel Alves and Brazilian youngster Alexandre Pato three of the most recent.

Denying any such interest, Kenyon explained: 'The reason for that is to make a market - and we are good for making a market.

'We believe the squad we have, we are capable at the start of the season of competing in all four competitions,' he continued.

'Everybody wants to come back and regain the Premier League and getting into the semi-final of the Champions League, although we were disappointed to go out, it just fuels everybody because we know how close we are to getting in the Final.

'In the League I think we see Liverpool always as a threat but I think Man United are the number one threat. I think it is between us and United as favourites for the League.'
