Savio let 'em come Beitrag melden Geschrieben 9. Juli 2004 Middlesbrough are close to signing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, according to several newspaper reports. The 32-year-old, released by Chelsea, would link up with Mark Viduka, who arrived from Leeds on Thursday. Dutck striker Hasselbaink is believed to have undergone a medical at the Riverside on Thursday. The only potential sticking point is his wage demands, with Hasselbaink thought to have been earning £70,000 a week at Stamford Bridge. Celtic have also been linked with a move for Hasselbaink, as the Scottish champions look to replace Henrik Larsson. Shearer, 33, has one year left on his Newcastle deal and Patrick Kluivert, 28, was signed by the club this summer. +[Jogi]+ mein neues Zuhause Beitrag melden Geschrieben 5. August 2004 MUTU LINKED WITH JUVENTUS LOANChelsea striker Adrian Mutu is set to join Juventus on a year-long loan, according to his agent. The Italian club have been pursuing the Romanian international for several weeks and could complete the transfer imminently. "It's now 99% likely that Mutu will sign a contract with Juventus Torino today," Mutu's agent, Ioan Becali, told Romanian channel TV Sport on Thursday. Mutu is to fly to Turin for a medical, and it is expected that he will sign a 12-month contract. His departure from Stamford Bridge, albeit on a temporary basis, comes just a year after he signed from Parma. The 25-year-old cost Chelsea £15.8m but after a bright start to his career in the Premiership, there came a lull in his performances and he finished last season with just six league goals. The arrival of Didier Drogba, for a reported £24m fee, apparently pushed Mutu to the back of the queue for places in Jose Mourinho's attack. The Romanian was a major success in Italian football, and scored 17 goals in 30 matches during the 2002/03 season before signing for Chelsea, forging a lethal partnership with Adriano, who has since joined Inter Milan, another of Mutu's former clubs. 0 Zitieren Diesen Beitrag teilen Link zum Beitrag Auf anderen Seiten teilen

ianrush Pass And Move - It's The Liverpool Groove Beitrag melden Geschrieben 9. August 2004 Benítez in for £12m Xabi Alonso Spurs also look to sign Shaun Wright-Phillips Dominic Fifield Monday August 9, 2004 The Guardian Liverpool will attempt to secure the signing of the Real Sociedad midfielder Xabi Alonso this week after agreeing to sell Danny Murphy to Tottenham Hotspur for £2.5m. Rafael Benítez was at Goodison Park on Saturday to watch the 22-year-old Spain international play the first half of a 2-2 friendly draw with Everton. The Anfield club will instigate talks today and are ready to offer about £12m for a player who interested Real Madrid this summer and more recently attracted scouts from Arsenal. Liverpool had originally targeted Alonso, primarily considered a defensive midfielder, to succeed Steven Gerrard when the England international appeared intent on a move to Chelsea. Gerrard's subsequent decision to remain at Anfield briefly cooled Benítez's interest, until now. Should Liverpool's pursuit prove successful Alonso would become his compatriot's second signing, after the arrival of the defender Josemi, another Spaniard. Benítez retains a tentative interest in Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips though he is reluctant to spend his limited funds on a player he knows little about. That could work in Tottenham's favour. The Londoners hope to follow up Murphy's signing with that of Wright-Phillips. Their initial bid of £4.5m for the 22-year-old was rejected and they upped it to £5.5m last night, but City value him at twice that amount. "I'm not surprised that there's interest in Shaun given that he is one of the Premiership most talented young players," said a City spokesman. "Shaun is pivotal to our future plans and we have no desire to sell him. Negotiations are under way as regards a new contract." The midfielder has two years to run on his current deal but his friendship with the Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe could tempt him to move to White Hart Lane. Regardless, Tottenham are confident of completing Murphy's transfer in the next 48 hours despite the threat of late interest from Everton and Charlton. Murphy's surprise sale after a seven-year association with Liverpool will leave Benítez's side stretched in midfield for their Champions League qualifier against Grazer AK in Austria tomorrow, not to mention for the start of the Premiership season next weekend. In the likely absence of the injured Gerrard, Benítez is likely to favour a quartet of Harry Kewell, Dietmar Hamann, Salif Diao and Steve Finnan at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium. Liverpool's interest in Alonso has also illustrated the shift in favour after the managerial change in the summer. Benítez has instigated something of a cull of the ancien régime's playing squad, most notably loaning out a succession of recruits from French football and replaced them with two Spaniards. Liverpool's squad suddenly appears to need urgent strengthening, with the sale of Emile Heskey to Birmingham, a host of players sent out on loan for a season, El Hadji Diouf set to join the exodus this week, most probably to Málaga, Milan Baros's desire to join Barcelona and the absence of Vladimir Smicer, whose ruptured knee ligaments will confine him to the treatment room for six months. 0 Zitieren Diesen Beitrag teilen Link zum Beitrag Auf anderen Seiten teilen

August 2004 3 Transfers - Charlton Athletic betreffend: JEFFERS JOINS CHARLTON Charlton have signed Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers to add to the capture of Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy. The 23-year-old Jeffers has signed a two-year contract after agreeing to move from the Premiership champions in a deal worth £2.6million. Charlton boss Alan Curbishley said: "We are delighted that Francis has agreed to join Charlton." ".....'' Jeffers shot to prominence as a teenager with Everton, scoring 20 goals in 70 games in his first spell with the Merseyside club. He has been prolific at international level, scoring a record-equalling 12 goals in 12 games for England Under-21s and celebrating his first senior appearance with a goal against Australia in a friendly at Upton Park in February 2003. Jeffers moved to Arsenal for £8million in the summer of 2001, but the player dubbed the `Fox in the box' made just 39 first-team appearances in three seasons with the Gunners, and spent several months on loan back at Goodison Park last season. MURPHY SEALS £2.5m CHARLTON MOVE New Charlton signing Danny Murphy has hit out at claims that he snubbed a move to Tottenham because he was not guaranteed a first-team place at White Hart Lane.Murphy was widely tipped to sign for Jacques Santini's side before being unveiled at The Valley after a £2.5m move. But the former Liverpool star, who put pen to paper on a four-year contract for Alan Curbishley's side, moved to quash rumours he moved to south London to guarantee regular football....... DI CANIO LEAVES FOR LAZIO Paolo di Canio has left Charlton Athletic to join Lazio on a free transfer, the Rome club has announced. The veteran striker had been longing for a return to Lazio, the club with whom he began his career in 1985 before leaving for Juventus in 1990, and his wish has now been granted. Di Canio has been signed to aid the development of Lazio's numerous young players, as well as to provide a reference point for the new, inexperienced coach Domenico Caso. 0 Zitieren Diesen Beitrag teilen Link zum Beitrag Auf anderen Seiten teilen
ianrush Pass And Move - It's The Liverpool Groove Beitrag melden Geschrieben 11. August 2004 Liverpool in for Xabi Press Association Tuesday August 10, 2004 Real Sociedad today confirmed they have received a formal approach from Liverpool for Xabi Alonso - and that they are prepared to sell the Spain midfielder. The club announced they had received a bid - thought to be worth £10.7m - after training today. "Liverpool representatives have been in San Sebastian where they met Real Sociedad executives," read a statement. "In the meeting the English representatives showed their interest in signing the player and at the same time the Spanish club expressed an interest in selling the player." +[Jogi]+ mein neues Zuhause Beitrag melden Geschrieben 21. August 2004 in diesem Zusammenhang: BEATTIE SILENT ON SAINTS FUTUREJames Beattie neglected to pledge his future to Southampton after scoring the winner versus Blackburn on Saturday. Blackburn defender Craig Short was adjudged to have fouled Beattie in injury-time by referee Andy D'Urso - and picked himself up to score the winning goal in a 3-2 win. Beattie has been strongly linked with a move away from the south coast, with Aston Villa and Charlton both having made a £6million bid for the striker. And asked about where his future lies, he told Sky Sports Premiership Plus: "I've no comment to make on that - I'm a Southampton player and hopefully I showed my professionalism today." Asked if he wanted to stay with Southampton, he added: "I do, yes - that's a nice question to ask me, cheers." Villa manager David O'Leary has suggested the player could move to the West Midlands before the end of the transfer window but Saints have indicated a reluctance to sell their star striker. zu Newcastele - bei 10 Mio.
