where is your team staying when they are in austria (which city)?

ENG: I think that it is Obertraun. There will be the First team Squad and around 100 Fans I will guess.

NTFC's Official Site says:

Northampton Town boss Colin Calderwood will be taking his squad to a specialist fitness training camp in Austria to begin their build up to the 2005/2006 season.

The Cobblers squad will be away from July 3 to July 9, based at the camp in Obertraun. The side will play two matches against local opposition while on the trip, meeting SV Ried on July 5th and Vocklabruck on July 8. The venue for the matches is to be confirmed.

The aim of the trip is to provide the first team squad with the best possible start to pre-season in preparation for the new season at some of the best training facilities in Europe, and the club have arranged a limited, executive VIP trip for supporters who wish to travel with the team.

The VIP package includes coach transfer from Sixfields to Stanstead Airport, return flights to Salzburg and coach transfer to the accommodation at the National Sports Centre in Obertraun, Austria. This will be on a full board basis, and include the opportunity to watch the team the team train and attend the two fixtures. Sight seeing trips will also be arranged during the week.

Das Ziel der Reise ist, die erste MannschaftGruppe mit dem bestmöglichen Anfang zur Vorjahreszeit in der Vorbereitung während der neuen Jahreszeit an einigem des besten Training Service in Europa zu versehen, und die Verein haben eine begrenzte, Executiv-VIP Reise für Verfechter geordnet, die mit der Mannschaft reisen möchten. Das VIP Paket schließt Trainerübertragung von Sixfields auf Stanstead Flughafen, von den Rückholflügen nach Salzburg und von der Trainerübertragung auf die Anpassung im nationalen Sportzentrum in Obertraun, Österreich ein. Dieses ist auf einer Grundlage des vollen Brettes und schließt die Gelegenheit ein, die Mannschaft aufzupassen die Mannschaft, die zwei Befestigungen auszubilden und sich zu sorgen. i guess that could become a good game as we have never played vs. an english soccer team as far as i can remember ;-)

to be honest, i have never heard anything about the northampton fc as i am not very familiar with what's going on in the english 2nd division.

i hope your team enjoys its trip to austria. obertraun got a very nice training centre...

I can remember having seen one game of your team on television - as I can remember, it was the FA-Cup game between Northampton and Manchester United in the season 2003/2004 - if I'm right your team lost 0-3 (or was it 0-4?).

I am looking forward to watching the very first game of the SV Ried against an English team!

Wow, SV ried against an english football club. Looks interesting.

I would wonder if youcan`t score us more than three goals. Our whole defenders and also our goalkeeper have troubles with the english system of playing soccer. ( was heißt nochmal hohe Flanken auf Englisch?)

Yes, we lost 3-0 in the FA Cup vs. Manchester United. We are a small club in England, we play in the 4th tier, but no offence we may be able to give you a game.

Ich meine , wi wiet wir im Fußball auch supportmäßig hinten sind, ist ja das. Die fahren auf ein Trainingslager ins hinterste Österreich und spielen gegen Weltklassevereine wie Vöcklabruck oder auch Ried und es fliegen 100 Ventilatoren (lt. seiner Übersetzung) ich meine natürllich Fans mit.

Das bleibt wohl immer eine andere Welt da drüber dem Teich

das wär mal eine idee. soviel ich weiß, wurde der SV bereits mal ein prototyp einer website vorgelegt, aber nicht angenommen.

i keep it in english to give ben the possibilty to understand what we are talking about in this thread.

i think league two is the 4th level in british fooball (below the premiership, the championship and league one), in austria this would be oberösterreichliga oder salzburger landesliga. and now compare the stadiums :-). it's nice to read that about 100 fans will accompany a league two team to a continental training camp. in the oberösterreichliga you might get problems to find 100 people at the ground during a league game.

well, it definitely is a different football world. maybe ben can check some tickets for a league two game for us, but i'd also take some for highbury or anfield
