Am Samstag, den 4. September 2004 trifft das italienische Nationalteam in Palermo auf Norwegen. Der Kader steht bereits im anderen Thread, das ist der offizielle Matchthread.

Gestern testete Marcello Lippis Team gegen Italiens U18-Team.

Im ersten Spiel gewann die vermeintliche A-Mannschaft gegen die U18 mit 5-0, die Tore erzielten Miccoli (2), Gilardino, Fiore und De Rossi. Man spielte mit folgender Aufstellung:

Miccoli - Gilardino

Zambrotta - Gattuso - De Rossi - Fiore

Favalli - Legrottaglie - Materazzi - Bonera

Buffon

Im zweiten Spiel (nur über 50 Minuten) gewann dann das B-Team, bei dem einzig Legrottaglie auch noch vom A-Team spielte, mit 7-1 - Tore durch Corradi (3), Toni, Ferrari, Zauli und Diana.

Aufstellung:

Ambrosini - Pirlo - Ambrosini - Diana

Zauri - Legrottaglie - Ferrari - Oddo

Ich bin etwas besorgt, sollte Lippi wirklich die erste Mannschaft die ich gepostet habe, aufstellen. Da gehört Pirlo statt De Rossi rein, Ferrari statt Legro und evtl. ein anderer Stürmer neben Gila.

Mit Pirlo und Ferrari stimme ich dir zu, doch weil Del Piero verletzt ist, sollte schon Miccoli auflaufen.

Italy’s Alessandro Del Piero will be available for Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Norway.

The Juventus ace has been struggling with a calf problem for most of the week, which had worried boss Marcello Lippi.

However, the No 10 trained this morning and took part in a small practice game later in the day.

Del Piero is now in contention to begin the Palermo tie even if Lippi may decide to start him on the bench instead.

Alex seems to be in competition with Fabrizio Miccoli, his now former Juve teammate, for the second striker shirt.

Lippi rules out Del Piero Friday 3 September, 2004

Marcello Lippi has confirmed that Alessandro Del Piero will not start the World Cup qualifier against Norway.

The Juventus ace has been hampered by a slight muscle strain this week and his name won’t be on the official teamsheet.

"He won’t play because he’s not trained cleanly, he’s been unable to work with any sort of consistency," said the tactician ahead of Saturday’s match.

"Will he be on the bench? We’ll see. He’s had a problem which he has brilliantly recovered from but he isn’t ready to start."

Fabrizio Miccoli is set to replace Del Piero in the starting line-up but Lippi wasn’t giving too much away regarding his probable XI.

"I’ve not told the squad yet who will play so I won’t be telling you," he explained to journalists. "I have a lot of options available to me.

"The youngsters? There is a chance that Bonera, De Rossi and Gilardino will play but that isn’t certain."

Lippi shuffled his pack even further on Friday after Massimo Ambrosini was selected in a practice match.

The Milan man may now be picked to start in midfield alongside Gennaro Gattuso instead of De Rossi.

"I’m making no promises but the squad has worked well and with real enthusiasm," continued Lippi. "I want the players to give everything they have tomorrow night."

Lippi concluded by commenting on Arrigo Sacchi’s claim that the national side needs a magician, and not a Coach, to achieve success.

"Sacchi is an alert football observer but I’m an optimist," he stated. "The side doesn’t need a magician but a Coach who transmits enthusiasm, someone who has the ability to unite a group of players."

Hab mir das Match aufgenommen und werde es mir jetzt noch anschauen.

Freud mich natürlich sehr das Italien, auch mit dieser jungen Mannschaft sehr positiv in die WM-Quali gestartet ist. Gefällt mir das Lippi voll auf die Jungen setzt.

Schade dass Gilardino nicht allzu viele Akzente setzen konnte, Corradi und Toni haben da weitaus mehr gefallen können und werden wohl im kommenden Spiel die besseren Karten haben. Naja, dafür ist Gila frischer für die Meisterschaft

Sehr gut gefallen haben mir die besagten Toni und Corradi, vor allem aber De Rossi, tolles Debüt. Auch Diana hat nach seiner Einwechslung viel Schwung gebracht und sonst waren Zambrotta und Fiore die besten Italiener.
