I'm not sure if any of you are aware of the Barnsley system and that the club only appoint players that can fit into the system of play via the press ect. 

 

I think Dane Murphy mentioned that LASK under VI had the second best press in Europe last season and that was a big reason he was appointed. G Struber was appointed because of that too but in possession play they are different with GS been from the Red Bull system. We had lots of praise from many last season but we did okay and survived near the end of the season after a poor start to the season under Daniel Stendel. 

Struber seemed to me to be someone that would allow things to affect him where VI works to a plan and they go with that. Even the CEO said that VI leads the club with the way he goes about things. 

True, we already had a style of press before ismael came and he furthered that playstyle. the problems just arose when we were down a goal. some teams also just started not to play around and just kicked the ball forward trying to win tackles in our zones. so there was no real chance of press some of the time and we had to figure out how to play creative football. and thats where our problems started and did not get solved

Does it annoy you that a second tier can sign players for financial reasons? 

well, it is what it is. there is just a lot more money in england and therefore even teams in the championship tend to give out better contracts than we can. it's not great, but we are already aware of this so it does not bother us too much.

some players as well also dream of playing in england once in their lifes (frieser for example) and in this case our club does not want to stand in the way of those goals. we are grateful and happy for what frieser accomplished in linz and are happy to see him get his chance in england and wish him nothing but the best

As long as our players don't go to our direct opponents in our own league it is fine. I guess nobody here is really upset when a player chooses to go abroad.

sure it annoys us, that good players move to english peasant clubs like barnsley 

no to be honest:

that's the way it is. for austrian players (like frieser) its a big opportunity to spend a few years of their career in england. big salary (even in the second league), nice standard of living, very challenging league with many games. even the championship is a very attractive league, with many big clubs, (normally) big crowds in old, impressive football stadiums. that's not really comparable to our league, where many clubs have an average of below 3.000 spectators per game. that's a chance everyone would take.

so you are very happy that players of LASK dont have a Ausstiegsklausel in their contracts?

no one here has a clause which allows to climb meadows in his contract. that's what we call a good legal position
