Ich denke nicht, dass die Rams-Coaches in Green mehr als einen Back-Up sehen. MMn ist Bulger - sofern ihn seine Line ausreichend Zeit gibt - ja kein schlechter, außerdem hat er ja im Vorjahr einen 6 Jahres ??? Monster-Vertrag abgschlossen.

Is Green jetzt als reiner Back-Up verpflichtet worden oder soll er mit Bulger um den Startplatz kämpfen? Ist ja nicht so, dass Green ein schlechter QB wäre. Nur letztes Jahr war er halt (wie die meisten Fins und Rams) in absoluter Unform.

Recommendation: “Everybody knows it’s a patellar tear,” Williams said. “But it’s something that I don’t feel is a career-ending injury. I’m showing up every day with my hard hat on and looking to get better and better.” Given the severity of the injury, nothing is guaranteed regarding Williams getting back on the field and resuming his NFL career. He won’t be much more than a late-round flier in most leagues barring a very surprising recovery over the summer. If Williams plays in 2008, he might be a candidate to for the PUP list depending on where his rehab is at in late August.

Ryan’s workout worthy of No. 1 QB

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – In the end, it lacked the sparks of Vince Young’s workout, and failed to deliver the eye-popping moments of JaMarcus Russell’s pro day curtsy for NFL heads of state. And the day’s buzz seemed to lag behind that generated when Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn showed off their wares.

In the pecking order of the draft’s latest darling quarterbacks who have been touted as potential No. 1 overall picks, the workout of Boston College’s Matt Ryan would rank behind many of his contemporaries. But unlike his predecessors, Ryan didn’t enter Tuesday’s workout fending off another quarterback for the right to be the first player at his position off the board. And that reality made Tuesday’s solid but largely unspectacular workout good enough in the minds of many of the league’s talent evaluators on hand.

“I don’t think he slips (in the draft),” Minnesota Vikings vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman said. “He finds his wide receivers down the field. If there is anything lacking in arm strength – and I think he has enough arm strength – he knows where to go with the ball.”

Spielman was one of 42 representatives from 22 teams in attendance Sunday. But the group lacked star power, with only one head coach – Kansas City’s Herm Edwards – in attendance. The Chiefs’ Carl Peterson also was the only general manager in attendance, along with Kansas City offensive coordinator Chan Gailey and quarterbacks coach Dick Curl.

Such heavy attendance by the Chiefs – and not the Miami Dolphins or Atlanta Falcons, who sent two reps each – manufactured some of the chatter at the event, particularly when Edwards took a painfully obvious stroll down the middle of field (passing by the array of media and cameras) and sat down on the turf with Ryan for a spirited conversation.

Shortly after that talk, the field was cleared and Ryan took center stage, much like the workout of all marquee first-round quarterbacks in every draft. And Ryan acquitted himself solidly in front of the brass, completing 48 of 52 throws in Boston College’s practice bubble at Alumni Stadium.

Three of his incompletions were drops, while the fourth came with Ryan overthrowing his wideout on his 51st pass of the session – a deep post route.

“I showed you I can make every throw that you need to make in the NFL,” Ryan said. “We went through the entire route tree and showed that I can throw on the run. Again, it’s all stuff they can see on tape.

“The draft is a funny thing. All that you can control – what I did today and the past couple of years that I’ve put on tape – all my work in trying to convince (teams) is done. At this point, I don’t really want to get my hopes up (about one team). I don’t want to fall in love with one place and then get drafted to another place and say, ‘Oh man, this stinks.’ I’m open. I’m excited to go wherever.”

When it was over, Ryan’s performance Tuesday seemed to dovetail relatively well with his scouting report: an adequate arm and the ability to make all the throws the NFL will demand, but with a ball that is not always perfectly clean. Many of Ryan’s passes had some wobble to them, which can be caused by gripping the football too tight at the release point and is considered correctable with coaching. At times his receivers had to wait a slight tick to let the ball catch up to them, and a few passes didn’t have perfect placement. But overall, there didn’t appear to be any glaring gaffes in the workout.

“I thought he pressed a couple times, trying to throw the ball a little too hard,” Edwards said. “That’s generally what happens with quarterbacks, when you get the media there. It used to be 10 to 15 years ago, with the workouts, five people were there. Now, depending who you are, what school you’re at, and where people slate you being drafted, it becomes this. Which is kind of good because it puts a lot of pressure on the kids, and the game everyone plays, there is going to be pressure on them.

“He pressed some throws, but the thing this guy has is his ability to win. That’s the thing you like about quarterbacks. Some guys win, some guys don’t. You can look at all the stats, the arm strength, you can look at all the different things, but at the end, can he win games? This guy has done that.”

Interestingly, the three teams that appear to have the most pressing needs at the quarterback spot – Miami, Atlanta and Baltimore – didn’t show up in force. The Dolphins were represented by director of college scouting Chris Grier and quarterbacks coach David Lee, while Atlanta had Phil Emery (director of college scouting) and Les Snead (director of player personnel) on had.

Baltimore, which had the shortest trip of the trio, sent Eric DeCosta (director of college scouting), George Kokinis (director of pro personnel) and Andy Moeller (offensive line coach).

All three of those teams, along with Kansas City, are expected to have Ryan in for a personal workout prior to the draft.

“That’s the one thing about the draft; everybody’s playing poker right now,” Edwards said. “Nobody is going to tell you who they are going to pick or why they are going to pick them. That’s why a lot of head coaches go to certain events. We’re all playing poker. … That’s part of the process. We all have to do our due diligence.”

hab heute ausschnitte vom workout gesehen auf nasn mit anschließender diskussion, weiß no immer net ob er der "richtige" - die hohe Anzahlt an interceptions im college schreckt micht, wer weiß was der dann in der NFL fabriziert.... aber da beim pick von grün-gold er eh schon lange vom board ist, ists mir auch wieder scheißegal.... in der keeper league würd ich ihn jedenfalls net nehmen

na ich weiß nicht, hab nichts gegen ihn... aber wie gesagt, mit der leistung im college, du weißt ja selbst dass das dann zwei welten sind.... also doch a wengal overrated, glaub eher er wird eine interception maschine - aber die zeit wirds zeigen

Matt Ryan ist halt nicht ein 0815 College QB sondern ein College QB der in der Pocket arbeiten kann und sowas sieht man halt gerne in der NFL. Das einzige Problem das ich bei College QB's extrem sehe ist das sie immer aus der Gun heraus spielen und nicht viele Snaps pro Season bekommen und das schaut in der NFL natürlich ganz anders aus. Ryan kann aber in der Pocket arbeiten und ist sicherlich genauso NFL Ready wie ein Brady Quinn...

wie gesagt, da weißt du wohl mehr über ihn als ich, habe nur wenig gesehen und werde v.a. von den stats geprägt. jedoch wird sich das alles eh früher oder später zeigen - wird auch schwer davon ankommen von wem er gedraftet wird, wie er sich dann entwickelt. erste season als backup würde ihm wohl nicht schlecht tun würde ich meinen.

Abgsehen davon, dass ich Brohm nächstes Jahr x-Mal lieber als Starter hätte als Ryan schaut's schwer danach aus, dass gar kein QB in der 1st Round gedraftet wird.
