Inter Mailand hat Chelsea angeblich Obefami Martins angeboten. Im Gegenzug will Inter Juan Sebastian Veron nach Mailand lotsen. Diesem Tauschangebot stehe ich sehr positiv gegenüber. Ich glaube zwar nicht, dass Martins bei Chelsea einen Stammplatz hätte, aber effektiver als Veron, der seit Monaten aufgrund diverser Verletzungen nicht mehr zum Einsatz kam, wäre er allemal.

Still looking dazed after that advert

Real Madrid director of football Jorge Valdano claims left-back Roberto Carlos will complete a £20m move to Chelsea in the next few days.

The 31-year-old Brazilian was linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge several months ago but it is reported he will now take up an offer from the Blues which will double his salary to around £120,000 a week.

With new manager Jose Antonio Camacho installed at the Bernabeu in place of Carlos Queiroz, it may be time for Carlos, and possibly some of Madrid's other star names, to move on following a disastrous finish to the season which saw Real slip to five straight defeats.

Valdano told Spanish daily sports paper AS: "We're waiting for a fax from Chelsea confirming they will pay the £20m fee in order to complete the deal."

Carlos himself has sent out mixed messages over the weekend.

He told BBC Radio Brazil: "I'm leaving Real Madrid, I'm going."

But after Madrid's 4-1 defeat by Real Sociedad he was adamant he wanted to stay at Real, saying: "I want to stay at Real Madrid and I think my situation will be sorted out in the next 20 days.

"I am certain I will be here next season. I need a rest now, because I have had a lot of years playing a lot of games.

"I will go home to Brazil on Tuesday, my lawyer will call the club and he will sort things out."

Aus gut informierten Kreisen habe ich erfahren, dass Jose Mourinho in den nächsten Stunden einen Vertrag mit Chelsea unterzeichnen wird. Ich bin schon gespannt, ob ihm auch Porto-Spieler folgen werden. Costinha könnte ich mir gut vorstellen. Bei Deco bezweifle ich, ob er sich in der Premiere League durchsetzen kann. Jedenfalls ist die Verpflichtung Mourinhos ein wichtiger Schritt in die richtige Richtung. Er ist jung, ambitioniert und lebt für den Fußball. Dieser Mann ist mir um einiges lieber als die anderen Trainernamen, die rund um die Stamford Bridge geisterten.

Sobald der Vertrag fixiert wurde, werde ich es in den CFC Newscorner posten.

Es ist vollbracht! Morgen wird Jose Mourinho um 11:00 (MEZ) auf einer Pressekonferenz als neuer Chelsea-Manager vorgestellt. Der FC Porto bestätigte, dass man dem Erfolgscoach die Freigabe erteilt hat.

Chelsea and José Mourinho completed negotiations last night and signed a three year contract for him to be manager and first team coach. He then declared: “I believe you can win things and be entertaining. It is fun to win.”

Chief executive Peter Kenyon said that the decision to change manager was about the long-term of moving Chelsea on to the next level of winning things on a consistent basis and being a major player in European competition.

Mourinho explained: “I have a method rather than believing in any formation. In Porto I sometimes play with four in a diamond in midfield, sometimes with three and with three in attack.

“But I always play to the same method. I believe in possession of the ball, I want my team to go out and be in control, so I want them to press early and get the ball early and then play with it. And I work on this everyday in training.”

Peter Kenyon stated that José would take on both roles of manager and first team coach, rather than also employing a director of football, because he wanted a holistic approach where the one man was ultimately responsible for the signing of schoolboys into the Academy and then for bringing them into the first team.

José was reluctant to talk about who he was bringing with him. “I must have respect for the people who are professionals in the club. I must meet with them, I must know their desires about the future, so I cannot say who will come, but for sure some will.

“In relation to players, if all the names you have linked with us come we will have a 50 man squad. With my methodology we will have a 21 man squad plus three goalkeepers.

“So if we bring some in we must find a way to solve the problem of some others. And we must have a different view to the reserves and youth, we must give it a different eye.”

He dismisses the pressure of having to succeed. “If I want to sit in a chair for a long time I could stay with Porto where I have won everything. I come here to live with this.

“We have top players and, I am sorry to sound a bit arrogant but, we have a top manager. We have to work with big things in our minds.”

Der neue Coach hat schon angekündigt, dass er die Größe des Kaders auf 21 + 2 Torhüter reduzieren will. Meiner Meinung nach schnitt er damit ein großes Problem, nämlich den aufgeblähten Kader, schon bei seiner Antrittsrede an. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass es einigen prominenten Namen an den Kragen gehen wird.

Babayaro

Gudjohnsen, weil er einfach keine konstant guten Leistungen bringt.

Ferreira is first Mourinho import

Chelsea have signed Porto defender Paulo Ferreira, according to radio reports in Portugal.

TSF radio are reporting that Porto president Jorge Pinto da Costa has claimed the Portugal right-back will join his former manager Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

Ferreira, 25, is currently with the Portugal squad preparing for Euro 2004.

Mourinho left Porto after guiding the club to Champions League glory last week and was confirmed as the new manager of Chelsea on Wednesday.

Pinto da Costa admitted the move was close to completion.

He told the A Bola newspaper: 'I can confirm that Paulo Ferreira is leaving.

'There are still a few details to sort out before he transfers to Chelsea, however.'

Mourinho has said his immediate priority at Chelsea would be to cut the number of players at his disposal in a bid to instil the hunger that underpinned his success at Porto.

Pinto da Costa made his comments late on Friday during a ceremony marking the start of a new term at the helm of the Porto club, although terms of Ferreira's Chelsea move were not disclosed.

FERREIRA CONFIRMS BLUES MOVE

Portuguese defender Paulo Ferreira has revealed that he has agreed to join former Porto coach Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

Mourinho, who was unveiled last week at Stamford Bridge, wasted no time in setting up a deal for Ferreira and he becomes his first signing since taking over in West London.

Chelsea are believed to have paid £13 million for the highly-rated right back and the 25-year-old is delighted with the move.

"It is a lot of money for a defender, there is no doubt about that," Ferreira told Portuguese daily 24Horas.

"Of course I am extremely satisfied. Only those who watch me play and who know me can say if the amount is justified."

Ferreira could be the first of several signings from Porto with Mourinho also thought to be keen on bringing in midfield duo Deco and Costinha.
