West Bromwich Albion have appointed Roy Hodgson as their new head coach.
A statement on the club's website read: "West Bromwich Albion are delighted to announce they have appointed Roy Hodgson as the club's new head coach. The 63-year-old former Internazionale, Switzerland, Fulham and Liverpool manager has this morning committed himself to the club until June 2012."
The club said that the caretaker manager Michael Appleton, who stepped in after Roberto Di Matteo was sacked last weekend, would stay in charge for the match against West Ham United on Saturday.
Hodgson was voted manager of the year by the League Managers' Association last season, after taking Fulham to the Europa League final. He left Liverpool last month, after taking over in the summer of 2010.
West Brom are 17th in the Premier League, above the relegation zone on goal difference.
