Joleon Lescott zu Manchester City

Everton have turned down a transfer request from Joleon Lescott , who is being targeted by Manchester City.

The Goodison Park outfit have knocked back bids of £15m and £18m from City for the centre-back.

"I have always said that we are not selling any players and that has not changed," Toffees boss David Moyes told the club's website.

Lescott, 26, is currently on international duty with England ahead of a friendly against the Netherlands.

But he played in a friendly for Everton in a 2-1 win over Malaga last Friday and was cheered throughout by the Merseyside club's fans.

But, if the supporters were trying to urge Lescott to stay, their attempts appear to have fallen on deaf ears as the central defender has put his desire to leave the club in writing.

Lescott joined Everton for £5m in June 2006 from Wolves and has developed into one of the Premier League's leading defenders.

He can play at left-back as well as at the heart of the defence and his progress has also seen him become a regular in the England squad.

His qualities have now attracted Manchester City who have been on a spending spree this summer as manager Mark Hughes bolsters his squad.

Hughes has already signed strikers Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz and Emmanuel Adebayor as well as midfielder Gareth Barry.

The City boss has also drafted in central defender Kolo Toure but wants more depth at the back which Lescott would provide.

But Moyes has refused to budge on his stance that he will not sell, especially to a club that has similar ambitions of breaking into the Premier League's top four.

Angeblich will City nun £22m (26 Millionen Euro) bieten, um Lescott zu bekommen. Aus meiner Sicht wäre Moyes ziemlich dumm, wenn er dieses Angebot nicht annehmen würde. £22m sind für Lescott, den ich zwar für einen sehr guten, aber nicht überragenden Innenverteidiger halte, viel zu viel und mit dem Geld könnte Everton nicht nur das Mittelfeld verstärken, sondern zusätzlich zum im Gespräch befindlichen Senderos noch einen weiteren Innenverteidiger holen.

Meiner Meinung nach wäre Everton da wirklich sehr dumm, würden sie das Angebot von City über 22m Pfund für Lescott nicht annehmen.

Andererseits versucht Moyes halt mit aller Macht seinen Stamm zu halten, was ich auch verstehen kann. Immerhin haben die Toffees letzte Saison mit relativ wenigen Neuverpflichtungen ja auch eine überragende Saison gespielt.

Bin auch schon gespannt wie sich das weiterentwickelt. Ich gehe davon aus, dass Lescott nächste Saison bei City spielen wird.

Manchester City and Everton have confirmed that an agreement has finally been reached over the transfer of defender Joleon Lescott.

The fee has not been revealed but is thought to be about £24m for Lescott, 26, and looks set to bring an end to bitter negotiations between the clubs.

A statement on the Toffees website said: "After the earlier bid, there was a change in the player's attitude.

"It was in the best interests of Everton if they allowed him to leave."

The move is subject to a medical and Lescott agreeing personal terms with City.
