Salgado set for Juve switch

Reports have emerged suggesting that Juventus have agreed a loan deal with Real Madrid that will see Michel Salgado move to Italy in January.

Real already have an agreement in place that will see Brazil international right back Cicinho move to the Santiago Bernabeu when the transfer window re-opens, and it now appears Salgado will be allowed to leave as a result.

The Primera titans have brought in Uruguayan youngster Carlos Diogo to increase competition at right back, but Cicinho's arrival looks certain to all but end Salgado's stay in the Spanish capital.

The player himself, who joined Real from Celta Vigo in the summer of 1999, admits he is pleased with the prospect of a switch to Juventus.

"Real have offered me to Juventus on a six-month loan deal starting in January," Salgado is quoted as saying.

"The Real directors have told me this directly and it is a solution that I am happy with."

The initial six-month loan is likely to include an option to make the deal permanent should Salgado impress in Turin - and Cicinho in Madrid.

Juve were thought to be interested in the Spain international earlier this summer, but were rebuffed after Real's attempts to bring in Cicinho from Sao Paulo before the season started failed.

Salgado started Real's opening league match of the season, the 2-1 away victory against Cadiz.

Michel Salgado ist sicherlich ein guter Rechtsverteidiger, doch ein Wechsel würde um ein paar Jahre zu spät kommen. Er ist einfach zu alt, sodass sich ein Wechsel nicht lohnt, nicht einmal ein Leihgeschäft. Statt einem Leihgeschäft wäre es besser einem Jungen die Chance zu geben über eine längere Distanz von Beginn an zu spielen, sprich Federico Balzaretti oder Giorgio Chiellini (falls Zambro auf rechts rückt). Außerdem ist bis Jänner Zebina sicher schon wieder fit und Birindelli auch schon auf dem Weg der Besserung, wird so ungefähr Ende Februar wieder eingreifen.

Ich habe eigentlich mit einem Last Minute Transfer von Moggi spekuliert, dachte da an Namen wie Bonera oder Oddo.

Naja, Salgado wäre zwar kurzfristig nicht schlecht, obwohl cih denke das Zebina in Topform um nichts schlechter ist, doch langfristig gesehen ist der Weg mit Balzaretti oder Chiellini auf jeden Fall besser.

Ich persönlich würds trotzdem gerne sehen, wenn Salgado Real verlässt. Zu alt oder nicht, er hat Klasse. Aber er hat ja erst letztes Jahr glaub ich seinen Vertrag verlängert, also denke ich dass das nur eine Ente ist.

glaube auch, dass zebina um nichts schlechter ist, daher würde ich den transfer (leihgeschäft) nicht ganz verstehen.

Juve reject Salgado claims

Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi has denied that Michel Salgado is set to join the club in January after reports suggested the defender would make a loan switch to accommodate Cicinho at the Bernabeu.

Moggi was adamant that no deal has been done to take the Spanish international to Juve and that the squad did not require any more defenders.

Salgado was quoted as saying that the move had been agreed between the two clubs and that he was happy to go along with it.

But Moggi was insistent that he has not spoken to Madrid about Salgado.

"He can say what he wants, but I plan the strategy of Juventus and Salgado does not enter into our plans," said Moggi.

"We are doing very well and are strong in that position."

But Moggi did admit that things could change between now and January.

"There is a lot of time between now and January," added Moggi.

The reports in Spain suggested that Salgado was set to be replaced by Sao Paulo's Cicinho, who Madrid have an option to sign in the winter transfer window.
