Die Spekulationen gehen seit langer Zeit von einem Bereich 2 Jahre für insg. 11 Mille aus. Bei aller Liebe ist das verdammt viel angesichts seiner Zahlen in den letzten Jahren. Andererseits würde mein Herz einen Abgang kaum verkraften. Hmmm....

Ich denke, Sundin könnte auch bei den Leafs locker einen Anschlußvertrag haben, insofern stehen die Chancen auf einen Verbleib nicht schlecht.

Ich denke mal das Mats in Toronto bleibt.. Er ist mit diesem Verein verheiratet wie kein adnrer Spieler der Leafs..

MATS, LEAFS CLOSE TO DEAL

Mats Sundin is on the verge of remaining a Maple Leaf through the 2008-09 season.

Just one month before the long-time captain is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent, the two sides are close to agreeing on a two-year deal worth about $11 million US.

As of tomorrow, the Leafs have a two-week window to pick up a team option on Sundin's existing deal. While the option would pay Sundin $4.56 million, it would still cost the Leafs about $6.33 million in cap space.

Both Sundin and the Leafs have no interest in such a setup and have worked diligently toward hammering out a new multi-year pact.

By paying Sundin in the neighbourhood of $5.5 million a season, both sides would seemingly settle on a fair compromise.

Sundin would be earning almost $1 million more had the Leafs picked up the option, while the team is saving itself some valuable cap space in the process.

"We figured Mats would be back," Leafs forward Kyle Wellwood said last night between innings at the Rogers Centre.

"Nobody in our room would ever question that. Can he still play? Oh yeah! He's got a lot left."

Nursing a nagging hip ailment, Sundin recently was told by a Swedish specialist, Dr. Anders Valentin, that he would not require major surgery. Dr. Valentin is considered one of the top orthopaedic surgeons in Sweden.

Sundin finished the 2006-07 season with 76 points.

Sharks Get 1st, 2nd and 4th From Toronto For Toskala And Bell

The San Jose Sharks have acquired a conditional first round pick (San Jose’s option for 2007 or 2008), a second round pick in 2007 and a fourth round pick in 2009 from the Toronto Maple Leafs, in exchange for netminder Vesa Toskala and forward Mark Bell. The condition on the first round draft pick is if the Sharks defer to 2008, and the Toronto pick is in the Top 10, Toronto keeps the selection and the Sharks get the Leafs 2009 first round slot.

Should San Jose use the first round pick today, Team Teal would draft 13th overall in the 1st round. San Jose also possesses two 2nd round picks (41st overall from Pittsburgh for Ekman, 44th overall from Toronto), a 3rd (83rd overall), 4th (113th overall), 5th (143rd overall), two 6th rounders (165th overall from Colorado for Parker, 173rd overall) and two 7th rounders (201st overall from Pittsburgh for Schaefer, 203rd overall).

Toskala, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the coming season, split time with Evgeni Nabokov during the regular season, but saw Nabokov take over full-time in the rotation late in the year and during the playoffs.

Bell was acquired by San Jose prior to the 2006-07 season, but had a tough start due to some off-ice issues and became a healthy scratch for much of the stretch drive and playoffs.

Bald geht es los mit den UFA Signings, bin gespannt was sich tut. Bezüglich der Leafs kann man durchaus pessimistisch sein, solange die Flasche JFJ am Werk ist.

Hat jemand einen Link zu den aktuellen Payrolls der Teams, aufgeschlüsselt auf die einzelnen Spieler?

Hab mir gerade die Zahlen für die neue Saison angesehen. Die Leafs sind jetzt schon bei fast 52 Mille nach der Extention für Toskala (4 Mille pro Saison? WTF?). Wenn man sich die Gehälter so ansieht kommt einem das Kotzen.

Antropov, Ponikarovsky und Bell, jeweils Leute die einen Punkteschnitt von unter 0.5 pro NHL-Spiel vorweisen können, verdienen jeweils über 2 Mille pro Jahr. Starke Leistung von JFJ.

Zudem schafft er es offensichtlich nicht die Fehler vom Vorjahr zu korrigieren, es stehen nach wie vor vier D-Men (McCabe, Kubina, Kaberle, Gill) auf der Gehaltsliste mit insgesamt über 17 Mille pro Saison. Bei Kaberle und Gill würd ich sagen dass sie nicht überbezahlt sind. 1,2 Mille für Colaiacovo, das muss man sich mal auf der Zunge zergehen lassen :hää?deppat?:
