Hat da jemand was mitgekriegt? Ich hab nur gelesen, dass es auf Grund der dauernden Krawallen den griechischen Fans verboten wurde zu Auswärtsmatches ihrer Mannschaft zu fahren.

Alle führenden Fanclubs Griechenlands haben bereits Maßnahmen angekündigt. Laut eines Mitglieds des Gate 4 von PAOK wird man trotzdem auswärts fahren, und die Polizei auffordern die Fans zu stoppen......

Es gibt anscheinend schon Fangruppen die dies in die Tat umgesetzt haben. Beim match Ionikos vs. AEK Athen fanden sich die AEK Fans auf der Heimtribüne ein, und es standen schlimme Krawalle aus denen teilweise schwere Verletzungen resultierten.

AEK responds to imploding fans

Club restricts ticket availability to card holders following weekend invasion of team’s VIP stand

News on Greek soccer in recent days has been dominated by state measures taken to curb persisting fan violence, which has proven detrimental to the sport, as underscored by poor attendance figures. Controversial new regulations forbidding organized fan clubs from attending away games were introduced last weekend to avert clashes between rival fans. For one club, AEK, however, security has developed into a domestic issue. It has prompted the team’s administration to take action against its own imploding fans.

During last Sunday’s home 2-2 draw against Aegaleo, a group of displeased AEK supporters invaded their club’s VIP stand and ousted its occupants in order to get closer to coach Dusan Bajevic and hurl verbal abuse at him. A small group of fans have yet to forgive Bajevic for abandoning the team in 1996, after a lengthy and successful career, both as player and coach, before his eventual return two seasons ago. Insults at games have included calling Bajevic a “traitor.” Following his first tenure at AEK, Bajevic added several more league titles with Olympiakos and a Greek Cup title with PAOK, before returning.

Responding to last weekend’s incident, the most outrageous by AEK fans to date, the club said that, from now on, it would restrict ticket availability to holders of new membership cards which will require submitting personal details. As of tomorrow, interested fans will be able to acquire their membership cards over the Internet (www.aekfc.gr), or at the club’s downtown headquarters. Holders of season tickets remain unaffected.

Fans such as the aforementioned culprits, of course, may still end up getting their hands on these new membership cards, but, having provided their personal details, will be under closer surveillance.

In a club announcement following Sunday’s invasion of the VIP stand, the AEK club said police forces ignored advice offered by team officials highlighting the ground’s more sensitive security spots. Had the advice been taken, the VIP invasion would have been avoided, the announcement implied. It called on Greek police authorities and the State to work in closer coordination with clubs on security issues.

AEK, a pre-season favorite for this year’s league title, has so far failed to live up to expectations. Just over the season’s halfway mark, AEK is placed fifth in the 16-team standings, nine points behind front runner Olympiakos. AEK also fared dismally in the Champions League, and was ousted following the first round of group play with one point from six games.

In other news at the troubled club, midfielder Vassilis Lakis, who has been at odds with AEK over outstanding fees, appears set to end his ties with the club. Talks yesterday between the player’s manager and a leading club authority collapsed. Lakis’s manager, Spyros Siougaris, said he rejected a club offer for a 300,000-euro payment and an end to the player’s contract. Legal action was taken following the talks, Siougaris said.

Another key player, midfielder Vassilis Tsiartas, who has also been at odds with AEK over unpaid fees, agreed yesterday to accept guarantees of a settlement within a specific time period.

Star Player Leaves Troubled AEK Athens

01/14/2004. AEK's Greek international attacking midfielder Vassilis Lakis who had filed a lawsuit against the club last week for overdue fees (responding to an offer by the club's vice president Petros Stathis for immediate partial payment of outstanding fees with the rest to follow by a June 30 deadline) has decided to terminate his contract.

Reports suggest that the player was interested in moving to either Panathinaikos or foreign club.

AEK Athens, were fancied as a pre-season league title favorite by numerous pundits, but are currently placed fifth, 9 points behind leader Olympiakos and 8 points adrift of second-placed Panathinaikos, while for a Champions League spot are 6 points behind third place PAOK Thessaloniki.

Since last summer, cash strapped AEK have lost Demis Nikolaidis to Atletico Madrid and recently Grigoris Georgatos to Olympiakos. The club's majority shareholders, British firm ENIC PLC, recently boosted its stake in AEK to 72 percent with the aim of financially restructuring the troubled club and then selling out.

Bajevic walks out of AEK

Dusan Bajevic has resigned as coach of AEK Athens FC following the deterioration of his relationship with the Greek club's fans.

Fans' protests

Bajevic returned to the AEK helm in summer 2002, but many supporters had not forgiven him for moving to rivals Olympiacos CFP in June 1996. The Serbo-Montenegrin, who had been the recipient of menacing messages, decided to stand down after abusive chants were aimed at his wife and fans waved a banner saying "traitor" during Sunday's 4-0 home win against Iraklis FC.

'A matter of ethics'

"My decision to leave was taken yesterday," he said on Monday. "You all saw and heard what went on. I cannot take that - it is a matter of ethics, it hurts me. I feel bad that I could not give AEK everything I wanted, and regret leaving a job half-done. I believe in the players. They asked me to stay, but I could not cope with this situation any longer."

Persias in charge

Meletis Persias, Bajevic's assistant, will take over as caretaker coach ahead of the crucial visit to Panathinaikos FC on Sunday. Meanwhile, AEK vice-president Petros Stathis has also left the club, saying: "When I decided to come back and help AEK, I did it mainly because of Bajevic's presence. I failed to keep him here and I resign too."

Tsiartas comments

Midfield player Vassilios Tsiartas said: "Mr Bajevic told us that he cannot continue like this. What can we do? He's not changing his mind and he's not staying." Referring to the coach's role in preventing players from leaving the club over unpaid wages, Tsiartas added: "It was Mr Bajevic who managed to keep us all together during the summer. Now we have no moral obligation." AEK are fourth in the Alpha Ethniki.

Das Spiel wurde 15 Minuten lang unterbrochen, nachdem in der 76. Minute Arkadiusz Klimek von Panionios zu unrecht ausgeschlossen wurde! Anstelle des Olympiakos-Verteidigers Athanasios Kostoulas, der Klimek einen Ellbogencheck verpasste, sah der Panionios-Stürmer die rote Karte! Panionios-Manager Giorgos Dedes wollte in der 80. Minute sogar seine Mannschaft vom Platz nehmen und das Stadion verlassen. Danach sah auch er die rote Karte!
