Erstens war Senegal nur im Viertelfinale und das war auch für Ghana drin ohne Schieberein wär Ghana ja auch locker Gruppensieger geworden

Obendrein war die Wm 2002 eine Jahrhundert Wm überhaupt noch nie sind soviele Favoriten gleich raus dazu Südkorea und Türkei im Halbfinale

World Soccer governing body FIFA over the weekend made amendments to the qualifying rules for the 2010 World Cup/African Nations Cup qualifying race.

Due to the withdrawal of Eritrea in Group 11 of the qualifying grouping, FIFA had to modify the regulations determining the progression of teams to the next phase of the qualifying race.

The top twelve group leaders, followed by the next eight best qualifiers were scheduled to scale through to the next round. But FIFA has applied a small modification to the rules that would produce the best eight qualifiers considering the fewer points that would be amassed in group 11.

FIFA stated that in order to apply fairness to the selection of the best eight qualifiers, the runners-up in each of the groups would have the results against the fourth best team subtracted. This way, there would be similar number of matches considered.

FIFA also decided that should there be a tie between teams during the ranking, the following criteria would be used to break the tie: Greater number of points obtained in matches between the tied teams, Goal difference in matches between the tied teams, Greater number of goals scored in matches between the tied teams.

If there is still a tie in selecting the final eight teams, the two teams will have to play each other in a play-off on a neutral venue, with extra-time and penalties if necessary.

TFF President Leodegar Tenga yesterday said from now on national team players are free to keep their jerseys after matches. Tenga said the move aims to give national team players the freedom to either keep or exchange jerseys with their opponents after matches.

Before the announcement, players were supposed to surrender the jerseys to the kits manager immediately after matches. The TFF boss made the remarks to clear the air after Taifa Stars skipper Nadir Haroub came under fire for exchanging jerseys with Cameroon and Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o after the World Cup/Nations Cup qualifier in Yaounde recently.

The national team’s kits manager reportedly threatened to deduct Haroub’s allowances and take further disciplinary measures against the defender for not surrendering the shirt as per the agreement between players and TFF. “Kit manager did what he was supposed to do, that is to collect jerseys from each player after the match.

But again Haroub did what he was supposed to do, as he couldn’t say no to Eto’o, noted Tenga. “It was a wise decision on his part, as he has also promoted our country by giving his jersey to such a famous player known all over the world. This is now part of modern football and we have to change,” he observed, adding: “Jerseys will be included in match costs so that every player can take his jersey and do whatever he wants to do with it.”
