Fex ... on the warpath Report post Posted February 8, 2006 Und für den Anfang gleich mal eine schlechte Nachricht ... Sabres' Briere delays return until after Olympics BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Center Daniel Briere will postpone his return to the Sabres until after the Olympics while he recovers from sports hernia surgery. The Buffalo co-captain had surgery in December. He has missed 21 games and began practicing with the team this week, hoping to return this weekend. Coach Lindy Ruff said he'd prefer Briere have a few extra weeks to recover. "Doctor just said it would be smarter to hold off until after the break," Briere said Wednesday. "Yes, I'm disappointed about having to wait an extra three weeks. But at the same time I know it's probably the best decision to make at this point." The Sabres, who host Montreal on Thursday and Florida Saturday, will have a 16-day break after playing at Carolina on Sunday. Briere expects to be ready when the Sabres host Atlanta on March 1. Despite being bothered by the injury for most of the season, Briere was among the Sabres leaders with 23 points (14 goals, nine assists) in 24 games before his surgery. Buffalo, coming off a 3-2 overtime win at Montreal on Tuesday, has won six straight and ranks fourth in the Eastern Conference playoff standings. Schade. Wäre wirklich spitze gewesen ihn gegen die Panthers wieder auf dem Eis zu sehen.
