Silvio Baldini is no longer the boss of Parma after he was, as expected, shown the door on Monday.

Director Luca Baraldi suggested that the tactician could be axed and his dismissal has been confirmed today.

"Parma would like to announce that Silvio Baldini has been relieved of his duties," read an official statement.

"The side will now be under the orders of Daniele Zoratto until any more decisions regarding the future are taken.

"Parma would finally like to thank Silvio Baldini for his work at this club over the last few months."

The former Empoli tactician only arrived in the summer following the departure of Cesare Prandelli.

However, things haven’t gone well and the 2-0 loss at Livorno yesterday saw the side slip to penultimate place in Serie A.

Zoratto, who was Baldini’s assistant, could take charge of the game against Roma at the weekend.

However, his stint at the helm may be brief with Gigi De Canio, Alberto Zaccheroni and Giancarlo Camolese already linked with the post.

Ich hoffe für Parma, dass Alberto Zaccheroni geholt wird - ist mMn der beste in dieser drei-Mann-Auswahl.

Eine längst fällige Entscheidung...

Vorübergehend wird Daniele Zoratto das Training leiten, der ehemalige Mittelfeldspieler war bisher Co-Trainer.

Ich hoffe dass es nicht Zaccheroni wird, mir fällt aber auch im Moment niemand ein wo ich sagen würde dass er genau zu uns passt. Die guten Trainer sind zur Zeit vergeben...

Carmignani named Parma Coach

Parma have officially named Pietro Carmignani as their new Coach after Silvio Baldini was fired on Monday.

“Parma have given the reins of the squad to Carmignani, who will work with assistant manager Daniele Zoratto,” explained a club statement released this evening.

59-year-old Carmignani is an intriguing choice to lead the Gialloblu out of relegation trouble, as he worked for many years as assistant to Arrigo Sacchi – the current Tardini director – at Parma, Milan, Atletico Madrid and the Italian national side.

This isn’t his first senior Coaching role, as he also took charge of Serie C1 outfit Livorno in 1999. Above all, in 2002 he stepped in for sacked Daniel Passarella at Parma and went on to win the Coppa Italia as well as rescuing the team from the threat of relegation.

Nicknamed ‘Gedeone’, he had a glittering playing career as a goalkeeper for Varese, Juventus (with whom he won the Scudetto in 1971-72), Napoli and Fiorentina.

Carmignani will hold his first press conference on Wednesday afternoon and make his debut on the bench in Thursday’s UEFA Cup clash with Besiktas at the Stadio Tardini. Failure to win that match will see the club eliminated from the competition.

Meiner Meinung nach die schlechtest mögliche Lösung

Wahrscheinlich können wir uns einfach keinen besseren Trainer leisten, aber Carmignani war schon einmal Parma-Trainer und das nicht so erfolgreich. Außerdem war er früher selbst Tormann und die sind mMn nicht so gut geeignet wie Feldspieler. Schade, so gehts wohl weiter bergab...

Naja, immerhin hat er damals den Cup gewonnen und uns vorm Abstieg bewahrt. Habe ihn aber trotzdem nicht wirklich in guter Erinnerung.
