Caso named Lazio boss Friday 30 July, 2004

Lazio have appointed Domenico Caso as their new boss after the summer departure of Roberto Mancini.

The youth team Coach was handed the job this afternoon by new Biancocelesti owner Claudio Lotito.

Caso beat some stiff opposition for the post seeing as Dino Zoff and Giancarlo Camolese were also contenders.

The tactician, who returned as Lazio Primavera chief last season after a previous spell between 1992-97, has never bossed in Serie A before.

"This is the right choice for Lazio," said President Lotito. "Mimmo Caso knows how to keep a team united and is experienced at getting the best out of youth.

"This decision is confirmation of the road that this club intends to go down in the future."

The cash-strapped outfit still have massive debts to clear despite Lotito taking control of the outfit earlier this month.

Meanwhile, the capital club are being linked with a move for Modena striker Diomansy Kamara.

The team need a new attacker after the summer departures of Bernardo Corradi and Claudio Lopez.

The Senegal international, 24, scored six goals in 29 League games last season.

Habe noch nie was von ihm gehört, mal sehen was mit Lazio unter seiner Regie wird. Glaube aber dass die Hauptstädter (vor allem auf Grund ihres geschwächten Kaders) diesmal nicht um die CL-Plätze mitspielen werden.

Mir sagt der Name Domenico Caso schon etwas, allerdings bezweifle ich auch, dass das (sportlich gesehen) die richtige Entscheidung für Lazio ist.
