Lazio complete Lequi swoop

Emanuel Matias Lequi is officially a Lazio player after he finally signed for the capital outfit.

The Argentine stopper was expected to arrive last week but talks with Uruguayan club Cerro stalled.

However, an agreement between the two sides was reached last night for the 23-year-old defender.

"I’m very happy to finally be a Lazio player and I hope to stay here for as long as possible," said the former Atletico Madrid man.

"After days of talks, we reached a compromise thanks to the hard work of all those involved in the negotiations.

"I would also like to thank Lazio and President Claudio Lotito for their determination in signing me.

"I can’t wait to start work with my new teammates and I am at the full disposal of boss Mimmo Caso."

Lequi has penned a three-year contract at the Stadio Olimpico, worth around £350,000 a season.

Freut mich für ihn, dass es nun endlich geklappt hat und er wieder bei einem starken Team, in einer der großen Ligen spielen kann. War nach seiner Atletico-Zeit auch einer meiner Wunschspieler für Barcelona.
