September 2004 Real delight for English tot Real Madrid have recruited their third English player of the summer after snapping up a seven-year-old schoolboy from Brighton. The Primera titans have accepted Niall Mason into their academy after he had trials with the club. The intriguing story came about when Mason's father, Russell, heard about Real's academy system whilst on a business trip in the Spanish capital. Mason, a football coach himself, returned home and wasted no time in returning to Madrid with his son after arranging a trial with the club. Niall impressed sufficiently to be taken on by Los Merengues, and Mason and his family moved out to Spain on Wednesday to enable the youngster to take up his exciting new challenge. "We are very happy for the opportunity to have Niall brought up at a club as great as Real Madrid," Mason told AS. "In a couple of weeks he will begin to work at the club's academy.
