Valencia striker Miguel Angel Angulo could be set for a move to Arsenal, according to the player's agent.

The Spanish international, who can also operate in midfield, has turned down a new deal at La Mestalla and is open to offers.

Arsenal have now emerged as shock contenders for Angulo and The Gunners are reported to be lining up talks with Valencia.

The Gunners could be in the market for a new striker after Jeremie Aliadiere suffered a serious knee injury in Sunday's Community Shield win over Manchester United, while Sylvain Wiltord and Kanu have both left Highbury over the summer.

The player's agent Jose Luis Tamargo claims Arsenal have made an offer for the 27-year-old.

"Arsenal are interested in Angulo and we have an offer for him," Tamargo told skysports.com.

Tamargo also revealed Angulo had rejected Valencia's offer of a contract extension because it did not meet his demands.

"They have made us an offer of an extension, but the conditions for the player were impossible," added Tamargo.

Arsenal are reported to be meeting Valencia on Tuesday to discuss a move for Angulo with Valencia director Manuel Llorente preparing to meet the English officials.

Angulo has refused to comment on the speculation linking him with a move to the Premiership champions.
