Lichtgestalt what's the chapel of mine Geschrieben 12. Februar 2006 LEAFS AND KABERLE AGREE TO EXTENSION (February 11, 2006) -- John Ferguson, vice-president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Saturday evening that defenceman Tomas Kaberle has agreed to a five-year contract extension (2006-07 to 2010-11). As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. "Tomas represents a core part of our organization and we rely on him to play in all situations," said Ferguson. "Tomas figured to be one of the young premier free agents in the off-season and we are pleased that he is committed to being a big part of our future success." Kaberle, 27, is currently fifth among all NHL defencemen with 43 points and tied for third with 37 assists. His average ice time per game mark of 28:04 is fourth overall in the NHL trailing only Nicklas Lidstrom (28:41), Chris Pronger (28:15) and teammate Bryan McCabe (28:08). His powerplay point total of 31 is the league’s ninth-highest mark and his 27 powerplay assists is second among all NHL players (Lidstrom). He is currently third in team scoring this season with 43 points (six goals, 37 assists). In 499 career NHL games, all with Toronto, he has 47 goals and 220 assists for 267 points. Starting next week, Kaberle will participate on the Czech Republic entry at the Winter Olympic Games for the second consecutive time in his career. The native of Rakovnik, Czech Republic was Toronto’s 13th choice, 204th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. -> mapleleafs.com 0 Diesen Beitrag teilen Link zum Beitrag Auf anderen Seiten teilen
AustroLeaf Mozart would have enjoyed this Geschrieben 12.

Lichtgestalt what's the chapel of mine Geschrieben 4. März 2006 An Open Letter to John Ferguson Dear Mr Ferguson, First off, I should tell you that TMLfans.ca is the LARGEST FAN BASED INTERNET COMMUNITY SUPPORTING THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS to be found anywhere. TMLfans.ca has been supporting this team for over a decade online, with hundreds of thousands of page views monthly to our website. Most Toronto media members, as well as many members of MLSE, join thousands in regularly visiting this community website. I have never taken this drastic step to formally write a public letter to this organization, but with the current state of where the Toronto Maple Leafs are, I feel that I must do so. I write this because I feel that it is time for you to take responsibility for the team that you lead. As in any organization, it is easy to lay blame with the front line players first and foresmost, but it is clear that problems in most organizations start at the top levels of management. I know that you will likely not be able to confirm or deny that the the good ship Maple Leaf has no rudder and is drifting aimlessly out to sea, but if you listen to Leafs fans, it is clear that this is the case. Let me assume that you will not step aside from your position with MLSE. In all fairness, I suspect that would be not the best thing to do as the report card on your performance as GM is undecided. What you need to do, in my opinion and in the opinion of many fans, is to take a sharp look at the entire organization under you and start to make changes – NOW. Your coach has a tremendous track record, at all levels including that with the Leafs, but he has clearly lost the respect of his players. In public they will say they support him. Clearly their collective play shows otherwise. The systems that he sets in place are not being followed. These players are NHL caliber, and should be able to follow the plays that he sets. Therefore it can only be assumed they no longer believe in his system. In cases such as these, the coach needs to be replaced - quickly. It is increasingly harder to watch this current team when they are not performing for their coach. It is downright painful. There are several players who are either floating or struggling through the current season. The youth, for the most part, seem to be putting forth decent effort, at least. The older floaters need to be replaced, assuming they either cannot or will not do what Coach Quinn asks of them. Obviously with the salary cap, and the substantial salaries that were foolishly thrown at them, moving them would be difficult. Find a way to be creative. One player in particular has just hit 1000 games. He looks like he’s played them all this season and really hasn’t done anything to impress for quite some time. Sit him and let the youth who are capable and willing to put in a full effort have a go at his roster spot. There are a few players who are longtime veterans who were expected to carry the play this year. It appears that they aren’t willing to do it for the current coach – find a new coach and if they choose not to play for him, then cut your loss and waive them if they won’t play for the next guy. Assuming they get to the minors, let them embarrass themselves at an AHL level. They’re embarrassing Leafs fans who want to support this team, but are having a tough time doing so when we’ve lost so much faith in what this team supposedly stands for. Players once showed price in donning the Blue and White. It’s questionable if all of the current players still have this sense of pride. Tell me I’m wrong. You’ve got deep problems with this Club. You know it, I know it, and most Leafs fans know it. Do the right thing. Show leadership, make the tough decisions and the subsequent changes as are clearly needed, and at least try to build for the future at the trade deadline. Obviously making the playoffs are next to impossible with the Club in its current state. Save face for the organization and rid the non-contributers and show the fans that you have the balls to build a young team that will strive in future years. We’ve waited a long time since 1967, and will show a little more patience as long as you are willing to show us you’re a strong enough leader to do what these fans deserve – by fielding a talented team willing to play for their coach, their team heritage, and most importantly their fans. You’re losing faithful fans. Show us that you’re capable of making the moves needed to steer this ship back into port for repairs. Do it for the fans who pay your salary. Do it now. Sincerely, Rick Couchman, TMLfans.ca Senior Publisher (-> tmlfans.ca) 0 Diesen Beitrag teilen Link zum Beitrag Auf anderen Seiten teilen

Lichtgestalt what's the chapel of mine Geschrieben 9. März 2006 MAPLE LEAFS TRADE KEN KLEE TO DEVILS The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded defenceman Ken Klee to the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday according to John Ferguson, vice-president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. In exchange, the Maple Leafs received forward Aleksander Suglobov (pronounced suh-GLOH-bahf) from the Devils. Suglobov, 24, was New Jersey’s third choice, 56th overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He currently leads all Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League in goals (25), assists (23), points (48) and plus/minus (+4) in 51 games in 2005-06. He played on the Planet/USA team in the 2006 AHL All-Star Game in Winnipeg on February 1. He scored on December 17 at Carolina in his lone game with the Devils in 2005-06. Last season with Albany, he notched 25 goals and 21 assists in 72 games. In 56 games this season with the Maple Leafs, Klee, 34, recorded three goals and 12 assists while picking up 66 penalty minutes. His average ice-time of 20:02 ranked third on the Maple Leafs this season. In 122 career regular season games with Toronto he collected seven goals and 37 assists for 44 points since his arrival to the Leafs as an unrestricted free agent on September 27, 2003. -> mapleleafs.com 0 Diesen Beitrag teilen Link zum Beitrag Auf anderen Seiten teilen
