Djet Parma nel cuore! Beitrag melden Geschrieben 7. September 2003 Diego Armando Maradona and Fabio Capello have given their view on the current football star system and crowned Francesco Totti. “If Totti was at Real Madrid they would be unbeatable,” said the Argentine legend. “He can certainly give more to a team than David Beckham.” The Pibe de Oro is still well loved in Italy following his time at Napoli in the late 1980’s. Interviewed by radio station ‘Rete Sport’, he cast his eye over the players who aim for the status of ‘legend’. “Totti is a fantastic player,” continued Maradona, “and still has time to make his mark even more evident.” “He will do a great deal for the status of Italian football and I believe Totti represents Serie A today. The Roma man can entertain the crowds like no-one else.” Giallorossi Coach Fabio Capello agreed with this view in a separate interview with ‘Sky Italia Sport’. “Beckham is a very good player,” said the former Real Madrid boss, “but he is simply not world class.” “There are few that can make the difference and at Real those men are Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Raul and Roberto Carlos. At Roma our world class player is Totti.” The creative midfielder, who made his Serie A debut aged sixteen, has hit the headlines this week due to a painful hip injury. He was forced out of tonight’s Euro 2004 qualifier with Wales, but has started running in training and is still hopeful of making Wednesday’s trip to Serbia & Montenegro. “I want to thank Maradona for the kind words of praise he spoke about me,” said Totti from his official website. “For me Maradona has always represented this sport and will continue to be a symbol of football.” Football Italia 0 Zitieren Diesen Beitrag teilen Link zum Beitrag Auf anderen Seiten teilen
