Wieder was neues über Palermo

Francesco Guidolin has revealed Palermo’s ambitious plans to become a giant of the Italian game.

The Sicilian outfit have only just returned to Serie A but the Coach believes the future is very bright at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

"We want to become a real power of the Italian game within four years," the tactician told Radio Anch'io Sport.

"It is an ambitious project but a well thought out one. The club have signed some good youngsters even if we are fundamentally the same side that won Serie B last year."

Palermo are enjoying a wonderful season so far, with the 3-2 win over Lecce leaving them just two points off a Champions’ League place.

But Guidolin is keen to cool the growing and understandable enthusiasm at the club.

"We are not hiding from our achievements but there are certain steps that we have to take," added the former Bologna boss.

"Our first objective is to just make sure that we gather enough points to ensure our top-flight safety as soon as possible," he explained.

"However, it would obviously be splendid if we can fight for a place in Europe until the very end of the season.

"There are a lot of nice things being said about Palermo right now and I think we fully deserve it."

Palermo, who recently beat Juventus 1-0, take on Champions’ League chasing rivals Roma at the weekend.

Unser Präsident Zamparini will für die kommende Saison einen Topstürmer nach Palermo holen. Was auch notwendig ist, da wir einfach zu wenig Stürmer haben! Nachdem Interesse an Del Piero (sehr unwahrscheinlich!) und Miccoli ist jetzt auch Milan Baros ein Wunschkanditat für den Sturm.

Ein wichtiger Sieg gegen einen direkten Konkurrenten auf Internationale Plätze. Jetzt haben wir schon 4 Punkte Vorsprung auf die Roma und nur mehr höchstens 2 Punkte Rückstand auf einen CL-Platz. Corini und Barone sind für je 1 Spiel gesperrt da auch Mutarelli noch verletzt ist wird wahrscheinlich Zaccardo gegen Livorno im Mittelfeld spielen. Möglich ist auch das Raimondi im Mittelfeld spielt, Zaccardo in der Abwehr und somit Conteh Ersatz wäre. Es wird sicher kein leichtes Spiel für Palermo da mit Corini und Barone zwei sehr wichtige Spieler fehlen. Das Hinspiel in Palermo gewann Livorno mit 2:1.

Neue Infos über einen möglichen Transfer von Milan Baros zu Palermo

Italians eye Baros

Italian side Palermo are planning an ambitious raid for Liverpool striker Milan Baros.

Palermo are surprise contenders for a UEFA Champions League place after a superb run in Serie A this season.

The club are already planning on making some new signings to step up a level in the summer, and have targeted Liverpool's Czech republic ace.

Baros was upset at being left out of the Liverpool starting Xi by Rafa Benitez for the Carling Cup final - sparking rumours he wanted to leave Anfield.

Benitez has now told Baros to prove himself on the pitch, and Palermo are one club waiting in the wings to see if the situation develops.

"We will monitor the situation," said Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini.

"When a player of this quality becomes available, we will of course be interested.

"There has been no contact but should the situation remain the same, then we will contact Liverpool."

Baros has rubbished reports he wants to leave, but Palermo are not the first Italian team to show an interest in him, with Fiorentina already linked with a move.

Should Benitez decide that Baros is not in his plans at the end of the season, there will be no shortage of takers for Euro 2004's top scorer.

Palermo und Livorno trennen sich mit 2:2

Das Sonntagabendspiel zwischen Palermo und Livorno endet mit 2:2.

Livorno begann mit viel Druck und kam zu einigen Chancen. Doch mit der Zeit bekam Palermo die Partie in Griff und erzielte nach Grosso Flanke und Brienza Vorlage durch Toni das 1:0. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt sah es nach einem Palermo Sieg aus. Doch gleich nach Beginn der 2. Halbzeit sah Zaccardo zurecht Gelb-Rot. Kurz darauf der Ausgleich durch A. Lucarelli. Danach gab es nach langen Pass von Grosso auf Toni das 2:1 für Palermo. Das 2:2 war unnötig keiner attackierte Passoni und dessen Schuß ging dann halt ins Tor. Somit endete die Partie 2:2. Bester Spieler von Palermo war für mich heute Luca Toni, der leider gegen Udinese wegen Gelbsperre fehlen wird!

Am 28. Spieltag kommt es zum Duell zwischen Palermo und Udinese. Ein sehr wichtiges Spiel für die Rosaneris den man sollte mit einem Sieg den Anschluss an die CL-Plätze halten.

Wie auch gegen Livorno fehlen diesesmal wieder wichtige Spieler denn Luca Toni und Cristian Zaccardo sind gesperrt. Palermo verliert das wichtige Spiel, um einen CL-Platz, gegen den wiedererstärkten Konkurrenten aus Udine klar mit 1:5. Somit endete auch eine Serie, den Palermo war seit 6 Spielen ungeschlagen. Das einizge positive vom 28. Spieltag ist das die Roma auch verloren hat und man somit weiterhin 5 Punkte Vorsprung auf einen nicht internationalen Platz hat. Udinese ace David Pizarro is a confirmed summer transfer target for ambitious Palermo.

The Chilean playmaker is highly rated in the Italian game and has already been associated with both Milan giants, plus Juventus.

"Pizarro isn’t my only target," Sicilian President Maurizio Zamparini told the Corriere dello Sport newspaper. "But many other European clubs are eyeing him."

Pizarro, one of Serie A’s best central midfielders, has been with the Bianconeri since his 1999 switch.

Meanwhile, Zamparini confirmed that his club intend to renew the contracts of veterans Eugenio Corini and Lamberto Zauli.

"They will stay with us," he added. "Our sporting director is already working on this. All that is missing are the signatures."

Wahrscheinliches Saisonende für Mario Alberto Santana

There is also bad injury news for Palermo, as Mario Alberto Santana suffered a serious thigh strain just after netting their only goal in the 5-1 defeat to Udinese.

This is a large tear to the muscle and Sicilian medical staff believe the Argentine midfielder will be out of action for approximately two months. It is possible he has played his last game for this season as a return isn’t likely until mid-May.

- Das Neueste Palermo Transfergerücht ist Marek Mintal. Neben Palermo soll auch Liverpool bzw. Udinese bereits Interesse an dem Spieler von Nürnberg gezeigt haben.
