Tom. Gobbo Beitrag melden Geschrieben 28. September 2004 Christian Vieri is out of Inter’s Champions’ League trip to Anderlecht after picking up an injury in training. The Italian striker is suffering with a knee problem and he’s not been included in the 21-man squad. There were already doubts over whether the out of form striker would play anyway after he was criticised by Massimo Moratti yesterday. The Nerazzurri chief clearly stated that he believed Vieri should be dropped after a difficult start to the season. Nigerian youngster Obafemi Martins, who netted a brace against Parma, is now favourite to partner Adriano in attack. Wednesday’s clash will also give the Italian giants an opportunity to take a closer look at Anderlecht’s Vincent Kompany. The central defender, just 18, has been strongly linked with a future move to the San Siro. Walter Baseggio will also be keen to impress after he saw his dream transfer to Inter collapse in the summer. "Back in May, I thought that I would become an Inter player but the two clubs couldn’t agree a fee," he explained. The midfielder, a Belgian international, could still complete a switch to Serie A though as Fiorentina and Sampdoria are still interested. Inter squad for Anderlecht - Goalkeepers: Toldo, Fontana. Defenders: Cordoba, Burdisso, J Zanetti, Ze Maria, Favalli, Materazzi, Pasquale. Midfielders: Emre, C Zanetti, Van der Meyde, Davids, Veron, Cambiasso, Karagounis, Stankovic. Forwards: Cruz, Adriano, Recoba, Martins.
