The 19-year-old attacker, rated as one of Asia's brightest talents, currently still plays for the University of Tsukuba, but is already a Japan Under-20 and Under-23 international, and is scheduled to represent his country at the forthcoming Olympic Games. Valencia are currently touring Japan, and it has been suggested they will attempt to tie up a deal for Hirayama during their time in Asia. Che president Jaime Orti admitted it was a possibility but insisted no agreement had yet been reached. "There is a real interest, we know the player and we know he is interesting but the decision has not yet been taken," Orti declared.
