Second Viola stint for Baggio

Plans are afoot to bring former Fiorentina hero Roberto Baggio back to the city for a final swansong.

Gino Salica, a close associate of Florentia Viola patron Diego Della Valle, confirmed the news.

“As with all businessmen who work within the world of football,” he told local television station Rtv-38, “Della Valle also dreams of bringing a great Number 10 to the club in order to entertain the fans.”

Baggio would certainly be a welcome face at the Stadio Artemio Franchi after he took the now defunct AC Fiorentina to a UEFA Cup Final during the late 1980’s.

“Della Valle’s dream is to bring Baggio back to Florence. To see him at the Stadio Franchi would be the crowning moment of his time at this club.”

His move to Juventus in the summer of 1990 prompted three days of rioting in the city.

Baggio is on fine form at Brescia this season, but with his 36th birthday coming up on February 18 could consider a future switch to the Serie C2 outfit.

Florentia Viola are currently leading the standings in their division and lost a friendly to Champions’ League competitors Lokomotiv Moscow on Saturday evening.

The 1-0 scoreline was sealed by Busnikin after just five minutes, but Florentia were denied what looked to be a clear penalty for a foul on Christian Riganò.

Was hält ihr von einer Rückkehr von Baggio zu den Violetten? Er könnte ihnen sicher weiterhelfen, jedoch frage ich mich schön langsam, woher die ihre ganze Kohle nehmen!

Den Test von LOK Moskau würde ich nicht zu ernst nehmen, da die Russen schon seit Ewigkeiten kein Spiel mehr bestritten haben.

Ich glaube es ist noch zu früh...

Baggio spielt derzeit noch immer einige Top-Partien und er würde mMn jeder Serie A Mannschaft weiterhelfen.

Eine Verstärkung wäre er sicher, allerdings frag ich mich das selbe wie der Stoffel nämlich woher die Fiorentina das Geld nimmt.

Und ich hätte noch eine ganz andere Frage, für die ich aber keinen Thread aufmachen will: Mutu ist ab 30. Oktober wieder Spielberechtigt, oder? (Sofern sich sein aktueller Skandal, die Schlägerei mit dem Kellner, nicht negativ darauf auswirkt)
