Barca and Real target Kompany

Barcelona and Real Madrid are set to become embroiled in a tug-of-war for Anderlecht defender Vincent Kompany after both clubs revealed they are watching him.

The Catalan giants are reported to be ready to make a bid at the end of the season with both coach Frank Rijkaard and Barcelona president Joan Laporta praising the Belgian youngster.

"Anything can happen", said Rijkaard. "He is playing very well with his team, but he is only 18 years old. We are watching him to see how he improves."

Laporta is also aware that the trainer and the club's technical director, Txiki Begiristain, are fans of the new Belgian Player of the Year.

"All we need is for the coach and the sporting director to have the final say," the Barca president explained. "If they agree then everything will depend upon Anderlecht."

Kompany played at Camp Nou in midweek when he appeared in the tsunami fundraiser for the European team, for whom Rijkaard was one of the coaches.

But the Blaugrana will not have everything their own way as Real Madrid's director of sport, Emilio Butragueno also threw his team's hat into the ring.

"We are following his progress and Real Madrid know about his enormous potential," said Butragueno.

Kompany is taking it all in his stride and has vowed not allow the speculation affect his performances as Anderlecht battle to catch Club Brugge at the top of the Belgian league.

"I am devoting myself to playing football. I prefer not to think about the rumours and leave all that to other people," said Kompany.

Welche Position hat Kompany, wenn er eine bestimmte hat, außer er ist überall in der Verteidigung einsetzbar.

Wäre er überhaupt nötig (bei Barca) bzw. hätte Barca einen Grund ihn zu kaufen

Er ist ein IV, von dem wir eigentlich mit Puyol, Marquez, Oleguer und Edmilson schon vier haben. Allerdings kann man einen Kompany sicherlich brauchen. Laut sport.es ist auch Inter Mailand an ihm dran. Wird ein begehrtes Transferobjekt werden im Sommer....
